Need some help with recording off a mixer - Behringer Eurorack 2642A

Hi  - last year I recorded a band playing at a club - just off the phones output of their PV mixer - it came out surprizingly good. It was to Sonar 7 on a laptop. It was good enough for the demo they wanted. This time, a band is using a Behringer Eurorack 2642A. This has 4 subgroup outputs (2 stereo or 4 mono). To me the manual is scant, and somewhat confusing with no sample illustrations of set-ups. So would like some help in the best way to capture the audio into a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6..to laptop...with X1 Producer. It appears as if each channel can be sent to one of the subgroup outputs, so that part seems clear - I think..but then what??

thanks

The Eurorack has 8 direct outs.

Your Focusrite has 8 analog inputs (and 6 outputs)

I'd try hooking it up this way.

He means he likes my idea of streaming 8 channels of analog audio out of your desk, into your interface, and then into Sonar!

Got it ! - Should have been able to interpret the code ! ... I am not sure how many mics  / channels they are going to be using.... will have to get more info. I assume that they will be using some other main outs to their PA system.

I would recommend a splitter snake unless they are somehow giving you a clean signal otherwise, wait this is a pub right? Scratch the clean signal.....The splitter snake allows for independent feeds to both the interface and house PA system. If something goes wrong in the house PA chances are that the signal will still be ok at the interface. I have tried half clicking a 1/4" stereo phono plug but that's just wrong and it can go wrong.

You take a lot more chances not having a good recording coming off the phones output.

Sorry that so far I have no direct access to the mixer to try out until later this week. I want to be ready though when we start to set up. From reading the manual, and looking at the diagrhams of the board, I/Os, etc - it looks as if there are the options of coming off the aux sends (1-6 of them) that each have their own pots on the channel strips; or there are also seperate group outs, with their own faders....
