MC6 input monitoring for Amplitube3

I'm recording bass. After bass is recorded I can use amplitube just fine. How can I use it stand alone or while playing the part? It seems like I'm hearing the dry signal and amplitube but the cab sims and mics don't work. Like I said once track is recorded I can open up amplitube and all features seem to work fine. I'm doing something wrong.

Did you click the Input Echo button? That has to be on to hear effects in real time.
But, unless you have an audio interface with fast, digital-to-analog converters, there will be a delay.
What is your audio interface or sound card?

Input echo lets you hear the effected sound.  Like Greg says, there will likely be a bit of a delay since that is some heavy processing work in real time. The delay is worse if the soundcard is a factory card.

I don't often use the sims for that very reason. Even on my Saffire, the delay is noticeable. So if I want to stumble through with a squeaky clean sound..... I know I can get the distorted sound in the  playback, but as a guitarist, I really need that "live sound" to get the proper state of mind while playing.

Ok. It must be the delay in the sound I'm confusing for two signals. I'm using a Line 6 hd500 for the interface. I can deal with this, as I'm only using it for bass, and the bass doesn't sound too bad anyway. I just wanted to understand better what it was I was hearing. Thanks for your help.

You should be able to reduce the latency. If using WDM drivers, go to Edit>Preferences and move the Latency slider more to the 'Fast' side.
If using ASIO drivers, click the ASIO Panel button (it's where the Latency slider would be when using WDM drivers).

amplitube can be used standalone by going to your START menu and opening it directly from there instead of from inside MC.

Man I can't find anything in the start menu to click to open amplitube. I've got manuals, custom shop info, 7 or 8 different things but I don't see an amplitube icon or anything. I've clicked on them all but none open the program. I've searched for the exe file but so far no luck. Surely there is a short cut somewhere? It works fine in MC6.

I wonder if I should delete the whole program and download the free program from the IK multimedia site? It's the same as the one that comes with mc6 isn't it?

    Why delete it?

If it's working and registered.... I don;t see the reasoning behind removing it and reinstalling it.

The latency ...as I see it, is a fact of life if I am going to use it in echo mode.  So I work with that.

As far as opening it in stand alone mode... is that what you're not able to do?

yeah that's the only problem I have. (I'm sure it's just me being ignorant) I though maybe there was a shortcut to open amplitube that maybe didn't get installed for some reason? I can't find it in the start menu....or anywhere but, the program works fine. I understand the latency issue and echo button now...that has been resolved. Thanks for the help.

I don't have the purple amplitube 3 icon. I have the authorization manager and the a3 file folder one...that's it.  I'm wondering if this feature doesn't come with the MC6 program version.

Neuther do I. I went looking for it's location last night and couldn't find a stand-alone. Win 7 on this computer. You're using Win 7 now, Reece?

    herb -

clint and greg - it is very possible that the icon is there from the Amplitube 3 FREE download from the IK Multimedia website instead.  it's also very possible that the standalone version does not work with what comes with MC6.  I don't know because I don't remember the sequence of events of when I installed what.

there is a free amplitube version on IK's website, go install that and see what happens. that might get you the standalone version.  I DO know it came with different cabs/amps than the MC version did and that's why I downloaded it.

and yes, greg, I've been on Win7x64 for almost a year?  it's been quite a while.  I don't remember exactly when I switched over.
