Music Creator LE problems!

Just got this software (LE 3) with a Samson USB mic for home recording on an HP with Vista 64. i installed the software, it worked well once, crashed twice, and now I cant even access it. It wont read the install log to uninstall, it says its running when I try to intall over it and it does nothing when I click the desktop icon. Anybody had this problem or know a possible solution?

It looks like you purchased MC version 3 (LE). I don't believe MC3 was compatible with Vista, especially the 64 bit version.  From the looks of it, I believe others ran into the same problem..... Check this Link in the forums.

Also... using a USB mic to record in Music Creator is not the best way to do things...... and don't ask me why they (cake) continues to package MC-LE with USB mics.

The main problem with USB mics is that they are viewed as a second sound card and quite often the 2 sound cards clocks are not running in sync. This results in weird things happening between the timing in various tracks.

Using a USB mic is fine for pod casting and stuff with one track of audio.

My suggestion is, if you bought this to do multitrack audio & midi recording that you return the USB mic for a credit and purchase a USB based Recording Interface with audio and midi inputs and an inexpensive condenser mic. Then you are set to embark on a wonderful journey into the world of multitrack recording.

Note: there used to be a "sticky" in the MC forum describing how to get the Sampson USB mics to work well enough to actually record some small audio projects.... however, the last time I went looking to see if I could find the link, it had been removed my the moderators.  So.... while it is possible to get a USB mic to work with this software, it is not the easiest thing, nor is it the best solution.

I completely agree here.  USB mics are very difficult to use in a DAW setting and I personally would never own one.  you're better off with a real recording soundcard and traditional mic either condensor or dynamic and the full version of MC6 (which is only $40 or $50, IIRC).

Here's the sticky that Herb's talking about, it's actually in the SONAR LE forum, written by Fog:

that should get you working.  but my best advice is to get a real recording soundcard and a traditional mic.  check my website for recommendations.

    Thanks Reece.

they apparently moved it because I thought at one time it was in the MC forum stickies.

Perhaps that will help PFTB to get it working.
