"The Following"

Hi everyone.  I've been out of town from the holidays and whatnot.  I'm back in action and just finished this song, "The Following", which is progressive metal.  It is part nine of the Surreal Nightmares:

The paranormal team identifies unusual apparitions in the nearby woods.  They begin to follow... unknowingly that they are otherworldy visitors.

It does not yet have vocals, but it will soon enough.  .  You can listen to it on my Reverbnation page:

Thanks in advance for listening!

This really does have a haunting, sinister quality to it.

This has a sinister quality to it indeed.  Good composition, terrific performance, and the mix is sounding doggone good also.  I love the little riff at the end.
    Nicely done!!!

I have to agree with those who say this piece is dark and sinister.  I go there in my head sometimes, but rarely in public.  The production is well done, and the performances are good.  There's too many light and uplifting songs anyway.

    All the best,

Great core riff and theme, Luke.  I'm eager to hear where this goes with lyrics and vocals.

    Very cool mix.

I would never have picked those drums for this style but man do they work....

    Excellent.

Another excellent track Luke, menacing and atmospheric. Tasty riffs as always. Look forward to hearing this with vocals, but sounding very good so far.

    Hi Luke,

This is really cool! Lots of great rhythmic stuff going on in addition to the great riffs and overall dark vibe.

Nice riff on the outro!  Should be awesome with vocals.

I thought this was really well put together. Nice blend of all the various instruments ( I especailly liked the guitar and piano) Great use of dynamics and borderline insanity!

Thank you everyone for listening and the feedback!  I appreciate it very much! Dark and sinister... that's the type of music I seem to write nowadays.  Not sure if it's my subconcious coming through, LOL.

I'm eager to hear this song with vox myself.  Dan (the singer) will need to catch up to me.  I've left him in the dust and I just finished writing another song this weekend.  .  It's all good, Dan is quite busy.  I'm just ecstatic that he joined the project...!

Production quality sounds good.  Not the kind of stuff I normally listen to, but I think a number of people will like it.
