Music Creator 6 midi problems

Hello I just got Music Creator 6 I am trying to import some midi files but having some problems. MC6 is leaving out notes when I play any midi files. It happens even with the provided drum clips. Why would MC6 be skipping notes with midi and what can I do to stop it? If it matters I am using Windows Vista 32bit and the TTS-1 softsynth that came with Cakewalk.

Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Also forgot to mention this. If I click the icon on the drum unit that lets you try out the drums and patterns the drum patterns sound fine. If I load those patterns into my project they skip notes just like any other midi. Also midi files play fine with windows media players and the sound card's crappy default gm.

What driver mode are you using?
I believe the X-Fi has a music creation option that allows it to use ASIO. Is that correct?

Open MC then click the P button on your computer keyboard to bring up Preferences. The Driver Mode is the first thing on the list. What is it set at?
 
And this forum software doesn't work well with many browsers. It likes Internet Explorer.

I will restrain my comments on Sound Blaster cards to...... there are much better sound cards to use for recording. SB is near the bottom of the list of good cards to use. BUT.... setting up the driver properly and adjusting the parameters should allow you to get a relatively decent performance for small projects that don't use much midi.... until you can afford to get a good card/interface.

Firefox and this forum software stopped working well together a few months back so many of us have started using CHROME, OPERA, and other browsers to keep carriage returns and other things working properly. 

MME is the oldest, slowest, least efficient audio driver. You should be able to use WDM or WASAPI in Vista, either of which should give you better performance, audio-wise.
If the SB has a real ASIO driver available, you should use it. Uninstall ASIO4All first, though. They're not the same thing and ASIO4All tends to not let real ASIO drivers work.

There might be another place to adjust in addition to mixing latency, the source of the problem.
I believe in the preferences of MC there is a a setting called something like "MIDI buffers...prepare using xx ms". Double that buffer, and you should be ok.

I don't have MC, so I'm not 100% sure this setting is included. In SONAR 8.x versions this buffer has been the main cause of randomly skipped MIDI-notes.
