SI-Drum in Music Creator 6: drag&drop problem.
Hi guys, I'm new to Cakewalk Music Creator 6 and I please you to excuse me if such a thread has already been posted, I have read a lot of it, but did not find such one. When I add SI-Drum to the virtual instruments in MC6, everything goes fine until I try to import into the midi track one of the samples by drag&drop. I can drag it, but when I release the mouse button over the midi track, nothing is added, nothing happends. Can anyone help me? Did someone experience the same issue? Thank you very much, cheers Chris

Welcome Chris..... Have you watched, and worked along with the videos cake has to help you get started? Also, tell us a bit about the computer, soundcard, operating system ..... so we can know what kind of rig you are running.

Thank you. Yes I have watched the tutorial and followed step-by-step, but at the point to drag&drop the sample into the track nothing appears. I have windows-7 service pack 1, 64 bit, used with audiocard tascam US-428.

Welcome! I have to be petty and take your writing litterally, 'cause thats the only "bait" you offer, so no offence intended. You say you try to drag&drop a sample on a MIDI track. Drum samples are audio, and can't be dropped on a MIDI track. So, what are you really trying to drag&drop: A MIDI beat of 1-4 bars in length, or an actual drum sample (that means usually one single drum hit in wav-format) from somewhere? Another option: Are you trying to drop MIDI on an audio track after all?
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Yup... audio samples need to be in the audio track and midi clips need to be in a midi track. In addition, midi requires a synth properly set up to play( hear ) the music. the vids take you through the entire process.

I forgot to apologize for my english ;-) In fact I'm not new to VST and I already worked with SI-Drum, but with another sequencer. I was wrong saying "drum sample", I meant a MIDI beat of 4 bars, not wave. On the SI-Drum user interface, on the left there is a window to navigate through the different styles, and for every style there are some MIDI samples which I try to drag into a midi track of MC6. I hope this is a bit clearer...:-/

Thanks for effort guys, I really appreciate that! I drop them on the lane where the timeline is, on the position where I want to have them.

if you scroll around the project, did it drop somewhere else instead of where you intended it to drop?

Very weird. There's something obvious we all are missing. That is such a straightforward process usually. If I was still a smoker, I'd light a cigarette now. SI-Drums can't run standalone, can they?

Et voilat! I uninstall the whole package (MC6 and Cakewalk Studio Instruments), clean up Registry, reinstall it and everything now is going fine! Fazit: one more weird thing, which makes me think against windows! (even if windows 7 seems being much better) I hope you guys did not spend too much time on this issue, thanks anyway! This forum rules ;-) cheers Chris
