Delay when playing MIDI keyboard

Hey guys, thanks for reading my thread. I just recently got the A-300 Pro. I've set it up into SONAR X-1, the only issue is there is a delay between the key press and the sound that comes out of SONAR. How can I remedy this? Thanks in advance.

Your buffer is probably set too high.  What audio interface are you using?  If you look in Edit - Preferences, you may need to lower your driver buffer setting.

Tell me what your interface is, and what your audio driver latancy and MIDI p;ayback and recording settings are.

Thanks for answering my question. I'm not using an audio interface, I'm just using my laptop. My buffer size is set completely to the right to Safe. My number of buffers for MIDI recording is 64. What do you think I could do to maximize recording on my laptop set-up? Thanks in advance.

You need to move the slider more towards Fast.   As close as it can go without crashing audio engine, really.  Try half way and see how it goes.

So you're using your intenal soundcard?  Is it ASIO?  Most inbuilt soundcards are not up to the job.  It's worth considering an external interface.....  Loads on the market, and some very reasonably priced.

Thanks for your reply, what sort of external interfaces would you suggest?

Depends how  portable you want it to be.  And what conections your laptop has.   USB, Firewire?  I'm guessing USB.

And how many inputs / outputs.

And how much you want to spend.

Would need to know what your requirements are.  Recording bands, instruments, vocals?  Only soft synths etc?

There are SO many options, but I could recomend a few if I knew more about what you need it for.  And what other gear you already have: monitors etc.

BTW, did you try altering buffer.  Did it help latency issue?
