"As Darkness Falls"

Hey everyone.  I'm on a roll and just completed another song.  As usual, dark/eerie/sinister/haunting progressive metal with lots of changes and some odd or "off" sounding notes as usual.  This is part ten in the "Surreal Nightmares" story:

Unsure of what to expect, the paranormal team has entered the woods ready to uncover the truth of what’s been happening.  As darkness falls, they experience the worst of the nightmares.  It’s no longer a matter of life or death… it’s a matter of restoring the balance, what was once normalcy, plunged now into chaos.  They no longer feel their own bodies, but they know that they are not alone.  “They” have come for us.  “They” will take it all… away.

Have a listen on my Reverbnation page:

Song "As Darkness Falls".  Thanks in advance for listening.

EDIT:
No vocals yet.  Dan (the singer) has been working on other songs on the album, and is also quite busy with other things outside of the project.  However, it will have vocals soon enough.

I hear "the theme." It's a bit like a rock opera in fact? How one thing flows in to the next? And it tells a story? My cousin did a vampire rock opera. I've recorded a few songs from it, there are many more to go... Will this be released in the end as an album/opera?

You nailed this one.  The guitar work is excellent, and the mix sounds great on my speakers.  There were enough changes in it to keep it from being repetitive.  Well done.

    All the best,

Very well put together. Hopefully you'll get the vox on soon!

    Excellent!

Production sounds all good here - looking forward to hearing the vocal version - I really liked what he did on "The Tragedy".

Thanks everyone for listening.  I'm eager myself to hear this with vocals!

Robby, I guess you could call it a rock opera.  There is an underlying story where each song is a part of that story.  I'm also writing a novel about the story

    Hey, Luke,

This is really excellent!  Lots of cool, interesting stuff going on, and you've got a really nice punchy mix going.

Great work, buddy, can't wait to hear it with the vocals added.   Have a good one!

once again you have the keys-playing-guitar sounding spot-on, love the way the heavy riff comes back in at 1'30, and the segue after that is cool, the theremin type sound is ace. just needs the vox now!

    Luke,
The beginning caused me to think of Tubular Bells, but with attitude.
Your ability to come up with compositions with a foreboding yet compelling quality
is for sure a talent. You had me listening going, yeh this is dark, but I like it.
    Bravo!
