Irregular drums

Hi fellas. I've been using MC 3 for a few years now and it's been terrific. Recently, while working on a project, the drumbeats I create sound irregular and do not keep in step with the metronome even though I place them at regular intervals. My past projects are fantastic so this problem is new and even this new project does sound fine at times. But then it goes haywire and at places seems to rush, at other times falls behind the metronome. My laptop is HP, operating system is Windows XP, soundcard must be this thing called IDT Audio. How can I solve it? Right now I can't afford a new Music Creator. Is this a normal problem other music creators come across? I'd apprecite any help

honestly, it's probably due to lateny with your onboard soundcard.  it is a problem that people come across when using poorly written drivers like you're using with your onboard soundcard.

my best advice is to buy a recording soundcard, but if you can't afford a new version of Music Creator then you can't afford a new soundcard - they start around $100.

a work around that might work for you is ASIO4ALL.  google it, download it, unzip it, install it, then change to ASIO driver mode in MC3.  OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVER MODE = ASIO
    click OK
    close MC3
    reopen MC3
see if the problem goes away.

if not, then only way I know to resolve the problem is to upgrade the soundcard.  I have recommendations on my website.
