Lulworth Cove

Probably a good idea to have a glass of chilled sauvignon blanc and something fishy to hand to get in the mood for this seaside reverie...

I liked the song, but had to do without the food and drink compliments. Ah, though, did not really like how the drums sounded but that is about all. Hard to explain how the drums sounded (not full enough perhaps, slappy but not realy cardboard sounding at least to me).

Exquisite.  This is a gorgeous melody and a beautiful arrangement.  It was a little bass shy on my system, but I didn't miss it.  This is a song that I will listen to again, probably as I try to learn TurboTax in the next few weeks.  Terrific.

    All the best,

Wonderful. I did start to lose interest around 3:19. I was thinking maybe bring in some toms to beef up the beat a little as it all continues. Great playing and creation.

spacealf Drums, emm. I kept it simple (or rather got lazy) and had 1 midi track for all the Session Drummer 3 instruments and mixed to 1 audio track with no effects - you drumming aficionados might recommend I split SD3 to several midi tracks with P64 fine tuning or something? I know what you mean - The drums could be more "in the room", richer and wider. Thanks for the observation.

Lynn Thanks Lynn - I used a RubbaBass synth Bass. It has a nice flat non-pluck sound almost numb which I thought went well with the mood - comes through okay on my speakers

timidi Your right - I need to keep the interest going for that section in the middle before it picks up again at the end - i'll work on it - thanks

If I'd known you were going to listen I wouldn't have attempted that short overdrive guitar at the end - some praise indeed coming from you and you great guitar playing

Thanks - I got the idea last Sunday as I strolled around the Cove after a couple of glasses.

geeare1 Wow - I guess that's a thumbs up - thanks so much for all the comments.

Beautiful, serene, piece of music. Composition fits the title. The sounds/instrumentation are pristine and spaced just right in the mix IMO.

    Thank you Larry.

I am now allowing scenes and locations to evoke music rather than the reverse - trying to compose by staring at my piano keyboard, playing various chords in the hope they sound interesting, assembling a tune and then deciding a suitable title for it.

That could equate to conceiving an unwanted child.

Far more honest and lot easier to work from inspiration as I am sure you do.

    Ireno,

Lovely piece!  It can bring stress levels down!  Mix is great in my cans.  Piano sounds like it is a touch bright/hard dynamic?  Could be my system.  This could be my favorite driving song.

    Thanks.

chasmcg  Cheers Chas - just need one of your videos to complete the job
Davidterry Thanks Terry - that's praise indeed coming from a such a great songsmith as you
Rimshot That is really constructive comment - In fact, it's given me an idea or rather a snapshot of the future- the fact that you found the piano a "touch bright" but maybe to someone else dull, another too spacey, etc - why not offer a range of mixes according to the listeners' ear.
i.e. In the future, purchasers could tap in their musical prefences, in relation to a piece of music, on their keyboard - a computer the other end would instantly send a mix according to their particular musical sway -  after a preview of course.

May be this will be one of the ways technology could help the consumer to hone in on and define his or her musical persuasions.

Interesting idea.  Pick your mix!  I was listening to the piano sound on "Your Song" by Elton.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13GD78Bmo8s&feature=fvwrel
It is not bright but fits the part and mood of the song very well.  That's what I mean.  Love your work.
