I'm Still Here

Been a while since I've been to the forum, so I thought I'd stop by and see whats going on; and post one of my newer songs called "There In The Middle".  All comments welcome as always.

Hi Duane - Just been spending some very enjoyable time playing this piece and some others on your Soundclick page. Love your compositions and the production quality is excellent. The message certainly comes out crystal clear! Do I detect a country influence? Certainly these are songs I can easily imagine any congregation singing and rocking along with, with considerable relish! Love your music.

Good song.  Your voice is very powerful and well recorded.  The  subtle backing of the strings is just right.  I don't hear much bass, but it's not necessarily missed.  Most elements of the mix seem to be close to the center, and I think you could get away with panning some things wider, but that's just a matter of taste.  Well done.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Malcolmb:  Thank you very much for the really cool comments.  It's kind of getting to be a dream of mine to hear one of my songs in a worship set @ church one day.  Thanks again friend!

James:  Good to hear from you old friend and thanks so much for stopping by!  Everytime I listen to my song Grain By Grain I'm still amazed at the job you did on the guitar work.

Lynn:  Thank you very much for the tip on the panning.  I think I kind of got stuck in a rut and am holding everything near the center with the exception of the acoustic and the BGVs.   I'm certainly going to experiment with your advice.  THANKS!

    Hi, Duane,

It's great to see you around again, and this new song sounds terrific!

Excellent vocals and message, nice songwriting and playing, and a good sounding mix.  I do agree with Lynn about possibly panning some of the instruments a little wider to use a bit more of the soundscape.  I think it would really open up the mix and be the icing on this beautiful cake.

Wonderful job on this Duane, have a great day!

Very nicely done.  Sounds good and the message is evident.

Bob and Warren:  Thanks to both of you for the listen and the comments.  I'm already trying the additional panning on the song I'm working on now.  Hopefully it will be evident but not overdone when I'm finished!

Hey Duane!  good to see you again!

good stuff.  you've got a few "pops" on your vox.  the bass is a little low in the mix, I think.  good stuff.

Excellent song Duane! Acoustic guitar sounds nice and your voice even better. Powerful song and with those minor tweaks (very minor IMO) you're working on will really set the mix in place nicely.

Nice to see/hear you back in the forum and your playing sounds really good and tight!!

Nice job on the guitar and vocals...as well the production in general.  I love the sound of your acoustic!  Kudos...

Beagle:  Thanks a lot for the comment; yea I've still got a LOT to learn on the mixing thing!

Larry: Hello buddy!  I'm trying to spend a little more time on the creation stage of my songs and really make each one it's own story and style.  Thanks for listening.

Jeff:  Thanks!  It's just a low end Seagull but I like it and it does have a nice sound.  The kind comments are much appreciated.
