Z3TA+ 2 needs additional mono modes

Hello, I feel like the automatic legato mode in z3ta+ 2 is somewhat of a problem. I'm trying to create some bass patches that don't do well with polyphony. I want the envelopes to re trigger on every note press and this does not seem like an option with the current mono mode. How might one accomplish this or is this something that Cakewalk needs to implement? (Why didn't they?)

Check the release of your Envelopes. Reducing those will most likely get you the result you are looking for. Best, Chad

    Chad,
    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I suppose that could be used as a workaround. I'd have to manually edit every note's end to be positioned immediately before the next note. However, this is impractical and not a solution for live performances.

I should be allowed to create a patch with a long release that has it's EGs retrigger on every note press in mono mode.

I sincerely hope cakewalk would implement this functionality. Not everyone wants legato! It's puzzling why this wasn't included from the beginning.

For some reason I just noticed this. This is exactly the reason why I've found z3ta to be a weird synth for all these years but couldn't put my finger exactly on why.

    WTF! The envelopes can't retrigger!

In the master section there is a polyphony setting, set that to 1 for mono patches. If you look in the upper left corner there is a performance section that you can use to set the portamento mode.

Yeah but the envelopes still don't have a retrigger option. It's not the same as the portamento settings.

Hey I was just browsing for a solution and I'm wondering if this is still not possible?  I'm playing  a path that I have polyphony of 1 but legato keypresses won't retrigger the EG.  The EG is controlling filter cutoff so basically on legato phrases I don't get any sound. :(

I want it so that on each keypress, regardless if it's legato, the EG retriggers.  I can't seem to find an option for this.

Can you point out any synth examples that do re-trigger envelopes in solo mode?

A lot of synths have this ability.  However I figured out that changing the polyphony to 2 solves the problem and allows the envelopes to retrigger.

Maybe if you boost the sustain level of the Amp EG a bit it will work better with solo.

Roland Jp-8080 has mono and legato modes. Mono re-triggers the EG and legato doesn't. On Dave Smith's Evolver EG re-trigger is selectable. Omnisphere has solo and legato modes - solo makes the patch monphonic and the EGs retrigger and if you also select legato the EGs won't retrigger.

I noticed that if you have the sustain level for the amp EG set too low, the level will fade as you play legato.  But if you raise the sustain level some, you can keep playing without needing to re-trigger a new note on envelope.
