Pugtones Flashback. "SWEET ENOUGH"

Since my open heart surgery I've had complications with absesses, infections, blah, blah, blah.  It has slowed my songwriting with Mark.  We have a lot of songs in the works but I'm just not keeping up, YET!  Soooooo, in an effort to keep us in the minds of the old crew and get some exposure with the new crew that come up everyday, here's a song we posted in Nov. 2009.  One of my favorites.
SWEET ENOUGH

Hey Warren!!  It is great to see you back on the forum.  I hope you get to 100% health so we can hear some more Pugtones stuff.  Terrific sound on this one.  Great guitar sound, clear mix, and the guy doing the vocals (lol) did a bang-up job.

Warren & Mark - very very cool!  lovely laid back tone.    great vox and BGVs.  very sweet!

I'm hearing a little distortion on something (not the good kind) starting at 1:46 thru 2:20 like you recorded something to hot or something.

other than that, it's great!  love it!

Oldie but goodie ... with your solid Pugtones trademark.

Again this is coffee-shop excellence (IMHO) due to quasi vocal performances, directly invoking electric guitars, blues, etc.

    Solid end punch ... perfect!

    Hi Warren,

Always great to hear the Pugtones! Really cool tune. Love your vocal and Mark's guitar playing is great, as always.

Warren, I hope your health issues will soon be a thing of the past. Get well and I look forward to hearing much more from you.

I wasn't going to bump this back up but I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the comments and the well wishes for my health.  At last, the Pugtones have a couple new tunes almost ready to go.  So, thanks to everyone for taking the time to listen and comment.   I'll let this one fade into the sunset and get a couple new Pugs tunes up here soon.  Real soon!  We hope you'll like them.

Fenders have a certain sound, don't they? Something really bad happened with the snare on the version I heard at the beginning, timing wise like at 40 seconds and then again before the 1 min mark. :-( I hadn't heard this one, but I like it.  In general it sounds like that snare is mixed "way up." But I'm listening on a notebook :-(

Bandontherun - that's not a Fender - it's a Paul Reed smith. And I listened closely to the snare - I think it's all good.

    Thanks for listening.

Really? I play a PRS!? It just really sounded like a fender?  Good job on the guitar though.

And that snare is off where I said it was... But the song is good? And the rest of the performance was excellent :-)

And that kid's got some BIG toofers sticking WAAAAAAAAAAAY OUT THERE!!! LOL!

REMEMBER! Most people just say, "good job?" 90+ percent of people just say, "Hey! YOU ROCK!" Because? They want you to do the same on their post...  It is a rare sub-set of people who post? Who will actually make "a constructive criticism?"

I value these... You should value them as well...

They are more important, "yet less pleasurable..."  than the "atta boy's..."

Jamesyoyo beats me like a Redneck wife in a trailer park? He makes my music better? I'm trying to do the same...
It takes nads to accept constructive criticism? It's not easy... But It makes us better...

Or I could just say, "Hey man! Good job!" That's what we all like? But it's not what we need... But if it's what you need?? :-D Hey, I'm there for you bro!

Mark! This song would SUCK *** without your performance! You are the f'ing man!! you ROCK!!

Robby, I agree that constructive criticism is good.  My problem might be that listening on a laptop might not be the best system to use for crits on mix matters.  I don't know, you guys are much better at that than I am.  I've worked with Mark for over 3 years now and can tell you that he certainly meant nothing bad with his post.   I have been guilty of the "attaboy" comments but I can't always hear what you guys do.  Anyway, we DO appreciate the fact that you took the time to listen and give your thoughts.  But isn't it really MY performance that makes the song great?  LOL!!  Seeya, buddy.

Hi Warren - I don't know it this phrase translates across the pond, but here in England we used to call music as good as this - "down-right dirty blues" (that is a compliment which Clapton rarely earned)! Love it. Hope you are back to full health very soon.

Bandontherun. I certainly appreciate any comments - positive or negative. Frankly, I'm where I want to be technically - I find that if I get too far into the technical aspect of music that it tends to take some of the fun out of it for me - and that's why I do this - for the fun of it. At almost 60 years of age, I have long ago come to grips with the fact that I am never going to be a famous musician - never particularly cared if I was a successful musician or not - like I said, I do music for the fun of it.

So, yea, I'm one of those that listens to the music of others here not for the technical aspect of what they do - but more to experience the pure emotion of what comes from their heart.

Thanks again for taking a listen - feel free to comment anyway you feel like - but please understand, although I understand this is a technical recording site - I don't really come here for that - I do it for the enjoyment of the music itself.

    Take care, see you soon.
