On a small remote screen like that with multiple overlapping windows it's still like trying to wallpaper your house through the letterbox. The correct solution is to get a full-size touch screen flat in front of you (instead of standing vertically), and retain the mouse for the really fine work.

OK, maybe Dell ST2220... But anyone can write down even a little test of any multitouch display with Win7?

According to the manufacturers site it does not support SONAR, or at least it's not listed. • Pro Tools • Logic 9 • Cubase • FL Studio • Tracktion • Studio One • Reaper • Reason • Live
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

They are multi-touch, they work just fine with Win7. To test, open any window and use the same 2 finger jestures you would on an iPad/iPod/iPhone to zoom in/out, rotate a picture, etc..

It works out expensive though - I figure about 500 pounds when you factor in the cost of an I-pad to run it on. Should be able to get something decent with real knobs and sliders for that price. But then again I am a dinosaur that hates touch screens.

Something with real knobs doesn't display on screen vsts and vstis.. Thats the big benefit of using this app. Since iPads, if they will be considered a personal computer (still in debate), are now listed as the top selling PC device ever, this type of software is a huge welcome to us that want to integrate our i devices into our studios. If you looked at the namm news highlights for 2012, there were a massive amount of products for the iPad and iPhone this year. Its a evolving world. :)

People who own an iPad probably use it for tons of different things. I mean, I know I wouldn't buy an iPad just to control my DAW, but if I bought one, I'd probably buy such an app. Similarly, I have a few apps on my iPhone which I can use as a remote for my DAW. I wouldn't have bought an iPhone just for that, but, since I have one... I don't use those things too often, but one of them (DAW Remote) is nice to have when I'm tracking guitars and not necessarily sitting in front of the computer.

Hey Scott thanks for sharing. Do you use AC-7 at all to control Sonar and if, so, how would you compare the two? I use it all the time and love it but I am always open to newer solutions if they integrate better especially with VSTs. Have you heard back yet about Sonar compatibility? On a separate but related note I believe iPad control is a total gamechanger. I use mine for Sonar and Omnisphere and it is fantastic. Ken

V-Control Pro looks very interesting. And I have an iPad2. I may even get the app just to experiment with it. But to me this still looks like a pretty weak solution to a fairly questionable problem. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for new a better methods of "controlling" my DAW. I love my little Tranzport for doing just that. Albiet in a limited yet essential fashion. But really to think that I'd have my big 28inch monitor in front of me and my mouse and shortcut keys and then have a fairly small little touch screen showing me basically the same info right below it that I'd choose to work on seems goofy to me. Or "for" me I should say. Now...if I were able to have my 28inch (or bigger) monitor turned face up at a slight angle on my desktop and be a touch sensitive controller as well as a visual reference...well....now we're talkin;-)

Scott, any luck with Sonar yet? The developer should really consider making it compatible with our DAW since a lot of users use Sonar. And there are a lot of iPad users who are Sonar users. Doesn't make sense to leave Sonar out of its list. I bet we are the only DAW forum that mentioned their product. But whatever... So does this program allow you to run whatever DAW you are using in it or only its own application to control the DAW? It would be nice to control and see every aspect of Sonar or whichever DAW its compatible with inside the program. Screen size is a lot smaller of course, but it is still touchscreen and can be positioned in a very accessible way like your own set-up. I take it that it also allows you to use transport buttons (some users use a remote or a wireless keyboard) but this seems to allow you to do a lot more because it's right there with a touchscreen feature of the iPad.
