today i downloaded MC6 and i'm attempting to install it. i'm extracting the initial files to get the actual installer and it says "CRC failed in setup-#.bin" (the # being the setup bit).

any ideas?

more details on the computer and the operating system please.

is it a downloaded version or a boxed version?

Sounds like a bad download to me.  I would try downloading the files again.

Before I would take the time to DL it again....

I would first try a re-install from the files you downloaded. Something may have gone wrong in the un-zipping of installation process. That has happened to me before.

the second attempt fixed the problem and the program installed correctly.

OK...so a new DL might be in order.

I've also had that sort of failure...... keep us posted if we can assist.

can you make a folder and move the good extractions to it?  Then...retry the extractions.... and as you get good ones move them....

I know this must be a real pain.... But that's all I know to tell you.... maybe someone else has better advice.

You either have issues with the data getting screwed up on the DL or in the extraction process.

Another option.... use a different un-zipper. There are a few free ones available on line.  I use Cam-unzip.... it's free and works well.

if that fails.....A call to support might be in order in the morning.
