Hi Daryl, Man, that guitar sounds sweet! I'm listening on a laptop but the mix sounds fine. Cool arrangement and excellent smooth vocal, too. Great stuff!

Robert, Grant, Rimshot, Lynn, Herb, Rik, Gary, Richard - Thanks a bunch! Glad these songs still work for people. Cole Porter was a little strange to say the least.... but he sure could write songs. Kenny - Les Paul, Ray Benson, and Glenn Campbell?! You really want my amp don't you?! I thought you might like this one. I wish the big bands were still around. If you find a time machine, don't forget to take me back with you!

Kenny, you lucky dog. I've heard some big bands, but none of the classics, at least not with original members. There is a big band from Toledo that I see at jazz festivals here in Michigan, they are HOT. Great singer too. Powerful stuff. Band - I know the feeling, just this week at my annual checkup. Thanks. Frank - Thank you my friend. I hear the bass OK listening again, but your ears are better than mine so I will give it more scruitny. I trust your ears way more than mine. Chuck. Thanks. It's a fairly simple ochestration so it wasn't to hard to mix. I bought a new MikTeK C7 condenser, and that's is really make a nice difference in my sound. I love cool toys! Reese - Thank you. So glad people can still dig the old tunes. This was even way before MY time.

The production on this is crystal clear. Those guitar tones sound superb. Nothing wrong with old jazz, it just smells funny. LOL

Daryl, Interesting interpretation. I have never heard this song without a swing feel (intro and first verses). Of course you throw in the familiar swing feel at the end. You have done an outstanding job with it, like it very much. This probably would have been a huge hit in the 50's or early 60's. It sounds amazing. Great job. Regards

Bruce Right on! Thanks. Mark - It was my intention to do this as a ballad, because the song makes more sense to me that way. I was never comfortable with the song and it was often improvised by artists like Sinatra with some " you kooky kid" kind of lines or scat (however I love scat by people who can really do it like Ella... not me. ) But the last verse just HAS to swing, you can't really stop it. And by the last verse it feels ready to swing to the climax. I never could really understand this song until I slowed it down a bit and did it as a ballad, then it sort of compelled me to do it. To me, it makes more sense as a ballad. There are 3 chord structures that make up the 3 verses. I did 1 & 2 and reapeated those for the lead guitar break and repeated verse, then the 3rd verse, for which the chords almost force you to swing. You made a spot-on observation and one I'm surprised wasn't made earlier. I hope it works for you this way. - Daryl

As one who can almost remember the first time this song was performed(!), I can speak with some authority. This is a great rendition of a timeless classic. Like Kenny, while I do not recall Wes M. playing the original, its so nice to hear he hasn't lost that magic! It's either that, or reincarnation is true! Great performance, Daryl.
