The Upright released!
Hello people I am proud to say that Bluenoise Plugins has released a stunning upright piano for a price of only 30 dollars! The name is as selfexplaining as could be: THE UPRIGHT We continue to bring stunning quality to a very low price:-) This piano will hopefully compare to the very best out there and holds 1 GB of pure 24 bit samples. It has a cutoff, leslie, chorus, reverb and a delay included so it can sound from classic upright to very old and swirly piano like Imagine with John Lennon. Grab it now or try the fully working demo that has 2 octaves of the sound included. The plugin works with most Windows sloution and is released as a 32 bit VST. Direct link to the plugin: http://www.bluenoiseplugi..com/plugins/theupright/ Hope you like it:-) Best regards Bluenoise Plugins www.bluenoiseplugins.com "With great plugins come great responsibility"

Let us know when it is released in 64 bit format and I'll check it out. I don't like running bridging adapters.

FWIW > THIS SONG< was done in 64bit SOANR using Bluenoise's Metal1 kit (bridged of course). Never a crash while using a healthy dose of UAD, Waves, Sonitus, Voxengo and Nomad Factory plugs in the mix. I too hope he eventually provides 64bit versions too.

It's not as much SONAR x64 causing issues as much as Reaper 4 x64 and Superior Drummer x64 when inserting a bridged plugin. It adds a lot more latency for some reason. I enjoy working in the Reaper environment more than SONAR.

I can see how that might make you wary of 32bit plugs Dave.

I guess I would be less worried about it being 32 bit than it only having 4 velocity layers. That seems a little thin to me. I have Ivory 2 uprights and that has 16 and I definitely need the dynamics. No quarrels with the sound or the price of the package though so good work on that. Ken

I don't think should worry to much about the 4 layer thing. Compare it to Ivory 2 and make up your mind:-)

It really is very nice. Make sure and watch for the "24 month extended download thingy" tho. If you need it, it is only 7 bucks but I didn't realize until I was about to pay that it automatically gets tacked on. I went ahead and got it...tho I really didn't need it. But YMMV. Great library for the price.

Here are some user reviews so far: "I A/B'd this to the 4 other piano plugins I already had and it was the winner" "This is the best piano sound I have without actually micing up the Steinway we have in our Studio B" "Excellent quality at a great price" "I absolutely love the sound of "The Upright!" "Tried the demo, dang! This is my next purchase for sure" "You can "hear the wood" in the low end keys" "The Upright piano sounds beautiful and the Gui is very well done and Simple. For the price that you are asking, it is for me a no-brainer" "The sound is AWESOME!" "Seriously - the piano just has a great vibe" "This is a very beautiful sounding upright vsti. And the price is a no brainer" "I love the sound of it. Strongly recommended" "This piano has character and I like it" "It sounds full, has a relatively small footprint, and sounds great with a little compression"

I wouldn't worry about the number of velocity layers, either, not with an upright piano. I have only 3 layers in my Yamaha synthesizer and its upright piano patch works great in rock mixes. Listen to Lady Madonna - it's not digital but it's extremely compressed, the analog equivalent of having few velocity layers. And it sounds great. You just aren't going to use this type of instrument to record a solo Für Elise. I have a 12-layer piano in my collection, and for many applications it's just too dynamic. I often have to flatten the velocities of the MIDI tracks because quiet notes don't cut through the mix. When using piano as a rhythm instrument in a rock mix, which is the ideal application for an upright, extra layers probably aren't desirable.
