I never had 8.5 but do the manuals and other info specifically say that TTS is supposed to be in it?

Is your version of 8.5 a legal version...as opposed to a cracked or resold version?

TTS is a good synth and if 8.5 doesn't have it, you can get it for $40 by buying MC6 and you get the Cakewalk Sound Center which is a better sounding synth. If they are including TTS in MC I would think it would also be a standard in 8.5 but like I said, I never had Sonar 8.5

If it is included..... and you're just installing 8.5..... (why did it take so long to install this... 8.5 is pretty old now)  perhaps TTS didn't get registered as a plug in and assuming it's there..... you'll have to find it manually and add it to the plug in manager list.

thanks for responding. My 8.5 is a legal version wifey bought me for christmas. I guess i just assumed because the tutatorials tell you to go to soft synth and click TTS-1 1. that it came with the software. I am running vista on a emachine. not the best puter in the world. I bought the best sound card best buy had and installed it but im still having problems getting all the filters set right. I keep trying I am having alot of fun just figuring it out but i am ready to record with a drum beat no luck so far...... i just want to play my guitar with vocals and a nice drum pattern. i am just basically a guy who has had a 40 yr hobby with music.....

    Was it a boxed version?
Did you do a default or custom install?
It's possible you may have skipped installing TTS-1.
If it's there, you should see it in Program Files>Cakewalk>Shared DXi.
Do you see any of the other synths that would have come with S8.5?
