Anyone know any good Hammond B-3 soft syths?
I''ve got a bunch of B3, M3, and C3 soundfonts...they're not very good...so I was going to purchase a copy of Vintage Keyboards from Native Instruments...these sound as close as anything to the real thing... I just thought someone might know where I can find some viable options??? Tanks.

The VB3 is my go to Hammond virtual instrument. Guido has really thought things through with his design and the sound quality is fantastic. Once you try the demo you will be hooked.

I like the VB3. I'm waiting for a 64 bit version before I will purchase it. Until then I'll use a demo version of an earlier product which is also very good.

Mod Bod I like the VB3. I'm waiting for a 64 bit version before I will purchase it. Until then I'll use a demo version of an earlier product which is also very good. +1 on VB3-- I too am waiting for 64 bit. It's free predecessor (ORGANized found on the same website as VB3) is okay, but VB3 is quite nice and very affordable at only 49 Euros. NI/Kontakt Vintage Organs is also nice but more pricey; with it you will need to run some version of Kontakt. However if you can ever find someone to sell you their B4ii from NI you should grab it. For reasons beyond everone's understanding, NI discontinued it; B4ii was the best emulation I have ever heard of B/C class Hammonds. The VB3 is the second best, and at 49 Euros it is worth every penny, just not 64 bit yet.

I really like the NI B4 II.... It has a nice "growl" to it... NI's Vintage Organs doesn't have the same vibe, but the transistor organs in that package are really good... Unfortunately NI have a habit of deleting great products to keep forcing us to upgrade the products for the new "features". The B4 II sounds great in the mix and it works for me... It's a real shame that NI discontinued the product....Old Hammonds are still in style

If you want a good B3 you need control over the draw bars, rotary speaker and distortion. The rotary speaker and distortion should not be part of the sample but simulated and added afterwards. This will be where Soundfonts will fall down. Both Vintage Organs and VB3 will give you that. People that have played the real thing will tell you that VB3 comes closest, particulary the distortion. I have NI old B4 II and NI Vintage Organs and find a use for both. They are different. I considered buying VB3 as a potential replacment for B4 II when NI discontinued it but NI were offering a cheap upgrade to Vintage Organs so I went down that route. Like others who have posted here I would buy VB3 tomorrow if there was a 64 bit version.

Thanks all for the information...I haven't been able to properly configure the VB3 demo download so that it works...all I've got is the dll file, and it doesn't do anything... I'm impressed with the NI packages, so I might just wait and spend the extra cheese and get a variety.

I would download the VB3 1.4 Windows installer version which is 2.62 mb. Run it. Then you will need to add the vst location to the path in the Plug-in manager and re-scan. See if that helps. It really is a nice B3 emulation program and worth the work to get it running. Good luck.
