It's only an idea, but could you create a custom MIDI map?

Go to here and join the user group, There is a very active community of us die hards who keep these going. In the sidebar somewhere is the software patch for Sonar.

Whoops I see you are already there asking, good show, anyhow it's under files and there's a zip for the Sonar software. I personally haven't used it yet but I think it's what you need.

Hi there spark240  I am a Yamaha 01V user so I am a bit of an expert on this device.

Firstly for this to work best it is better to have a separate set of buttons available at all times in order to perform transport controls (like in the latest 01V) but however there is a workaround in the older 01V.

You need the manual for the 01V. I assume you have it. It is on page 236 Midi Machine Control. Now you can download it from here if you don't have it.

    http://www.yamaha.co.jp/m...result.php?div_code=pa

Just put 01V in the search box and it will bring up all the 01V manuals.

OK what you need to know is you can only do this while you in the REMOTE page 2. The first 6 ON buttons (channels 1 to 6) are the transport controls. As soon as you go back to the HOME page or any other page this facility does not work any more.

The signals being sent from the 01V are coming out the MIDI OUT at the back so you will need to get that signal into your midi interface somehow and make sure Sonar is receiving it all OK etc..

SONAR also needs to be told about this MMC signal coming IN. I created a new control surface. And Sonar have provided the MMC as one of the setups so it is very quick and easy. Just make sure the midi ports all match and away you go. Sonar responds to the first 6 ON buttons while you are on the REMOTE page 2. Sonar will Stop, Play, Rewind, Wind, Record etc.. .. All very cool.

Sonar also provides an 01V setup under the StudioWare file which is also very cool. As long as you have got a midi coming out of Sonar and back into the 01V you can remote control all of the 01V's functions from Sonar. Also very cool.

The first 6 SOLO buttons on channels 1 to 6 (still only while on REMOTE Page 2) also can be setup as 6 locate points. They do it by using timecode. That is a bit fiddly and you may not want or need it. But the Transport controls do work as they are supposed to.

PS the latest 01V96i is a cracker too.

This thing connects via USB and does a million things and also has some serious analog modeling stuff built in too. This is the ultimate digital mixer to connect to any DAW!
