X1 Drum replacement question

I'm trying to replace an analog kick drum with a midi kick for the first time. I've copied my transients to midi in audiosnap, loaded the session drummer 2 kick that I want and pasted the midi notes into the session drummer track. I can see the notes in the track but there's no sound on playback. Nothing else is soloed or muted, and i've got the track outputting to my master channel. I must have overlooked a setting somewhere but can't find it and the video tutorial makes it look like i've done everything I was supposed to. Any tips for a first timer?

Is the note number correct? Is it actually playing the desired note. I overlooked that my first time.

I'm not sure. How do I check? (Apologies for an analog guy wading into the midi pool.)

Double click the MIDI track, that should open it in a PRV (unless you've changed default double click behaviour).

If you have that track correctly routed to SD3 then you should see the drum names down the left hand side of the PRV in the note pane.

Also, check your settings in Audio snap and see where the midi note is set to fall on. For example, I just used the exact technique you are mentioning tonight for a client in a video lesson. I had my audio snap settings for the midi notes to land on C1 because that's where it defaults and I forgot to check it. The drum module I was using starts its sounds at C3, so when I first played the track, I had no sound until I slid them all up to C3. So your problem is either in what the others have mentioned, or what I've mentioned here. Check that stuff out and let us know how you make out. Best of luck.

Thanks. I have it set to C3 but I'll double check other options.

Use C1 for the kick...  most maps use the GM map and -2 octave numbering
