HeadCase update

Hey Guys, Update and heads up on the AcmeBarGig Head Case suite. Beta 1.52 out in all its glory, bugs, struggles and all.
(Don’t throw out 1.50 yet!!!) Keeping what’s left of my mind open in case it’s just a comfort zone thing…

A different animal so far, as have been all of Ken’s creations. Extreme powerful stuff and above industry standard for anyone with the ears to hear and time to explore..

Head Case has an internal compressor carried through the revisions which unfortunately doesn’t have a makeup knob to regulate extreme comp, and extreme comp is where the unique power of Ken’s suite is, pressure upstream.  Real gold can be had by doing a good comp or limiter upstream.

Resurrect Cake Boost out of the rubble. (Don’t know why it’s cool to hate this plug when it can dynamite deliver if you’re not mastering…). Or do the Audio Damage Rough Rider free comp first which seems to be the best match.

Regarding the new 1.52 beta, be aware that you got to "learn" the input level for each amp head or you won’t get any volume beyond the opening page. Bug in 1.52 which is recognized and probably yesterday’s news and fixed already.

Grem’s fine clean amp head creation under the custom heads comes in here as -90 DB and no sound. Advice is to open up the head builder and recode the output to 10x or more so you can use it. (GREM….GET YOU’RE ACT TOGETHER ALREADY!!!)

Point here is that beta junkies should check out 1.52. Most awesome overdrive unit on the planet. Not to diss the fine fine Amplitubes, Guitar Rigs, Line 6, etc, etc, etc.

Head Case is about weird and painful to get the ears properly involved in. No turning back or replacement however once you got a hang on what’s going on.

Check out the JIMI head. Allah Almighty!! All that was missing after a few tweaks was $50 bills thrown by the guys and panties thrown onstage by the girls. Acoustics are like being in a large arena… Finest digital history in the making…

Best to all,

Does the new version allow you to route a VST instrument to it as an effect without having to learn anything about the levels? I am not routing an external instrument to it. I have RealGuitar soft synths and also want to use it as an amp simulator for other soft synth VSTs.

    Ken,

You can run anything into the program, effect or instrument. The learn function is for input volume where it helps to optimize the incoming signal. So far, it has to be initially set for each head change except the opening default. Word is this may be addressed soon.

Good function is that there are several slots that can be optimized for different instruments and saved as defaults. You basically hit the learn button and play for a few seconds so the input can be calibrated.

I'm much a surface user of the program, but the ability to dive in and create your own amp head is quite powerful. Just starting to get a grip on that.
