They are named at export time but I think you are referring to ID tags which Sonar doesn't do. I use mp3tag which is excellent and free.

    Find it here

Perhaps I don't understand but I include id tags when exporting mp3s from sonar 7. I paid for the cakewalk mp3 encoder unlock and it gives you the option to include tag info during export.

Probably does, I don't have it and understanding how to do it in LAME is beyond me... mp3tag is free and easy though.

Sorry to the OP for the duff gen.

Everyone, well most everyone thinks if they tag somehting it will show up on itunes and other media players, but that really is not the case.
    • For iTunes, you need to submit it to Gracenote
    • For Windows Media player, you need to submit it to AMG Lasso
    • And for some other, you need to submit it to Freedb.org and musicbrainz.org
Tagging doesnt automatically make cd text and artist info show up. Yuo need to submit to those organizations. this is because the people who developed the computer software screwed up and this is why it doesn't automatically show the CD Text

I beg to differ CJ but the ID tags most definitely do show, although I don't know about iTunes as I don't use it. CD text is completely different to ID tags though.

I agree with FBB. CD Text is something else, but an MP3 tag will show up in either itunes and media player without submitting anything.

CD Text can be changed when you burn a CD. In the CD burning options there's usually 'Info'. I input all Artist, song, album, etc. txt info there and It shows up in the fancy CD players.

But CJ does make an important point, although not entirely relevant here - but I remember a time I wish I'd known that!!

    Anyway, carry on

In Sound Forge you can use preferences (I think) to load in Song info.  For CDs, I don't think it shows up, but in mp3 players it does.  It has to do w/ the reading of the player program.

It all gets confusing, since I've been loading songs into a player - mine and my favorite CD rips.  For older CDs, you often have to go online to get the info, I've found, sometimes manually finding the CD to get the info to load in the player.

I've never used the SONAR tagger, but have the Pyro Audio Creator on this family computer to do such.

Once I add a tune to my iTunes, go to "Recently Added" files, right click on the file and select "Get Info".  Select the tab "Info" and input info as needed.  Works for me.
