Dreams (Original) NEW MIX

Here is an original Steele Horse song. Our bass player wrote this many years ago when we played in a different band together. We just recorded this for our new demo CD.

Here's the new mix. Thank you all for your feedback.

This song feels like it wants to be different songs?

It feels like it wants to be mexican w/that horn?

And feels like a polka? (a little)

And the vox feel tentative :-(

I'm sorry Scotty, I'm such a fan of yours? And you know this about me (biggest fan)

But I'm not giving this one high marks.

    BUT I WAS FIRST!! YEAH!!

All you need is love, just ask the Beatles?

Good mix.  Jimmy Buffet style?  Lead vocal could be bigger sounding and maybe sung with a little more character?  Really fun arrangement.  Good job.

    Rimshot,

Thank you for checking it out. Yeah, Billy wants to re-track his vox. He said it sounds like he's afraid of the song. LOL

Our drummer doesn't like what he did in there but I think it's perfect for the song. What do you think?

Catcy chorus. The brass may be to far to the left. Not sure, but it seem to me that if you put some brass all the to the far right and  the brass  on the left about 60, it may stand out like I think you want it to. Not sure, but it should be easy enough to just check it out if you haven't already. Catchy tune in the brass as well.

Shades of Marty Robbins.  I think your all being too picky about the vocal.  This is a fun song, and the vocal track conveys that to me.  I think there are some panning issues, but these are just minor details.  Overall, a fun listen.

Mariachi music and polka music sound very similar in many cases.  I know, I filled in for my Dad's friends in polka bands in Chicago and I played in TexMex bands here in Arizona.   You can do the same dance to both types of music.  Just my opinion of course.  The sombreros at the polka parties were wierd.  LOL!  SCOTTY, I like the song and the recording is crystal clear.  Horns sound real, are they?  A little Marty Robbins flavor mixed with some Jimmy Buffet.  They're both Polish, you know.  NOT!

    Hi Warren,
Thanks for the info! The horns are done on a Roland synth, but I rode the faders to make them sound real.

Hey Scotty, this was cool.  I must confess to being not crazy about this genre, but you guys really sold it.  I started off thinking 'what are they doing here' and wound up humming along... it was that kinda' good... missed your fiddlin' though

Gerat job on the horns, BTW, I thought they were quite convincing.

Very nice work... it reminded me of the 80's style country of some of the male singers of that time.

the horns were OK but distracting as they sounded midi.  I would consider re-working them or losing them altogether.

Marty Robbins, Gene Watson, Moe Bandy, Micky Gilley, all of these would fit well with this tune.

Guitars are a bit out of tune..... on the very nice chops there near the end.

Thanks Herb. We play this one out live so the horns and out of tune guitars have to stay.

    Hi Scotty,

Nice tune. I like the Mexi-vibe you've got going on. Production sounds great, cool guitar solo, too.

    Hi, Scotty,

This is very different with the Mariachi/Polka vibe, but it is also very well done!

Great performances on all of the instruments, tasty guitar licks, and Buffer's vocals and harmonies sound great.  All in all, a very pleasant and unique listening experience!

    Nice work!

This is NOT what I expected coming from you.  It's good and clever and hooky.  It's a good tune w/ a very trad. sound.  That's what I'm hearing.  Nice job.

    Peace,

Retro Tex/Mex! Love this kind of stuff. I'd back the side stick down just a smidge, and leave the rest alone. This is really nice work.
