Demos for instruments

Hi there, I am here because  I would like to know if you can demo VSt's before buying them.  I tried the contact support, but apparently you arent allowed to unless you buy their products, because it asks for you serial number, which is really stupid.  It's a really simple question, please someone answer it.  Also, the VST's here are just regular vst's right? Not Cakewalk sonar exclusive.  Because I use a differnent DAW.  Mixcraft, to be exact.

    Some VSTs time out after a while or have timed beeps or buzzes or just stop.

    I've gotten the Cake synths as soon as they are available so I don't know about demos.  I do know that DimPro is like an 8 gig download, so you would have to buy the disk anyway.  But many synths don't have demos.

    The VSTs can be used in any DAW or with a microhost to play alone and they used to come as DXIs, too.  I think that might have been dropped, tho.
