VS does no seem to connect to my computer????

I am a complete newbie. I plug my VS into my computer via USB and it makes the "plugged in" "unplugged" sounds in succession. The VS has the light on as if it was never plugged in via USB. I have tried 3 USB ports with the same result. Any ideas????  Thank You!

    For what purpose are you connecting it to your computer? To see it as a 'mass storage' device to move files back and forth from the SD card or as a recording interface? 

    If as a recording interface, Have you installed the drivers? Are you using it with Sonar or 'other' DAW. 

     If I were you, I would start by reading the instructions. If you don't have them Google the PDF.
