cables for monitors and sub

I have m audio bx5a and sbx10 what type of cable should i use for best sound. im running 1/4 jack trs.i had no problems with sound clear and clean i just added the sbx10 and their is a humming.can i still get clean sound if i buy better 1/4 jacks or should i use xlr ?

    Is the humming just from the Sbx10 ?
