UA-EX 25: Using 2 Mics - 1 to record, and 1 for control room

I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction. I have consulted the manuals as well as SONAR X1 POWER! book. (let me know if this should be posted elsewhere such as the X1 forum).

I'm a little new to the smaller A/I's as I have recently had to down grade. I have a UA-EX 25, running SONAR X1 Studio. I currently have a AKG Perception 420 plugged into input one. I have a second mic that I wish to use as a control room mic to speak to clients in my vocal booth.  My issue is, I do not want both mics to record once a track is armed. Rather only the vocal booth mic to record, thus I don't wish to gain any impeding signal.
Any advice? When I picked up the UA-EX 25, the manager of the Pro Audio Department at Long & McQuade (One of Canada's largest speciality music stores) said I can do this from with in SONAR - indicating which input will receive the recording signal, and another mic for talk back only.

Can someone point me in the right direction - maybe I should post this in SONAR X1 Forum?

An audio track in Sonar can record the left signal from your device, the right signal, or stereo (both channels on one track).

You choose the channel/s you want to record in the INPUT section of the audio track. In your case, it sounds like you want to use LEFT.
