install X1c or just X1d with Expanded?
Now that X1d is out, do I still need to install X1c if I'm installing X1 from scratch on a new machine with Expanded? Or do I just install X1, Expanded then X1d?

To install the SONAR X1d update, you must already have SONAR X1c Producer/Studio/Essential (Build 319) or SONAR X1 Expanded (Build 425) installed. If you have not already installed the X1c update, you can find it here.

I'm still confused because in the Installation Instructions it reads... To install the SONAR X1d update, you must already have SONAR X1c Producer/Studio/Essential (Build 319) or SONAR X1 Expanded (Build 425) installed. If you have a QuickFix installed, you must roll back your QuickFix build before installing the SONAR X1d update. The word "or", implies that Expanded can be installed without having X1c installed. So installing for the first time, on a new machine - is X1c still required?

From the Cakewalk Store: Please note that you must have SONAR X1 Producer and the latest SONAR X1c Update installed before you can install SONAR X1 Expanded. ie - You MUST have X1c installed.

Hi Guys, The updated instructions here should also clarify the necessary installation order for each product. Please read through the .pdf if you're having any problems. Hopefully this will address any questions. Best regards,

OK, this greatly helps. The in-depth installation instructions makes it more clear what the order if installation is and if X1c is still required if installing Expanded and the new X1d update. But to clarify my own confusion, the Installation Instructions says again... To install the SONAR X1d update, you must already have SONAR X1c Producer/Studio/Essential (Build 319) or SONAR X1 Expanded (Build 425) installed. Which makes it confusing because of the word, "or" and mentioning Expanded without listing X1c. So the way I read it was that I can go right to X1 Producer then Expanded and then apply the X1d update.

You're missing the point - in order for Expanded to live on your system, you MUST have X1c already installed!

Which makes it confusing because of the word, "or" and mentioning Expanded without listing X1c. So the way I read it was that I can go right to X1 Producer then Expanded and then apply the X1d update. It's definitely wordy (so many different versions and updates!) The reason for the word "or" is because they're separate. If it said "and" it would imply that everyone could install Expanded, which they can't unless they purchase it. SONAR X1 Producer Expanded (build 425) installs over SONAR X1c Producer (Build 319). I guess to clarify further, despite others referring to it as "SONAR X1c Producer Expanded", I don't refer to it this way because the product is not referred to this way. The splash screen will list "SONAR X1 Producer Expanded (Build 425)". It's the "release build" of Expanded. To be honest, I'm not sure if I/we've accidentally referred to it this way in the past but I personally try to make a point to establish the difference between "SONAR X1c Producer" and "SONAR X1 Producer Expanded" simply because that's how it's identified by the product itself. Anyhow, I'm glad the extra instructions helped. Sorry for the confusion once again.
