I followed the instructions as I understood them and still have build 434
This is what I did. I opened the folder C: \program files\Cakewalk\SonarX1 Producer\backup\12072011\version_18.1.0.425 I used control C as instructed. I used control V to paste into the Sonar Producer folder, I still had build 434... I fear I have really messed it up now. I tried again and moved the 425 version into SonarPDR.exe. Now when I try to open X1 I am prompted to enter a registration number whichit does not accept and my SN is wrong and I cannot change it... and I cannot figure out how to get the build 425 back out of SonarPDR.exe. Any suggestions? I looked around and don't see my original X1 disks... I'm sure I can find them but I HOPE I don't need them. I wont have time to fool with this tomorrow... and I don't understand why you couldn't make this foolproof... because it seems I messed it up. I need help... I cannot tell what version I have now because I cannot open it since the listed SN (which, as I said is wrong and I cannot change it) and it will not accept my reg number... so it will not open. I knew I should have waited a few days but ... here I am, dead in the water. Nothing pressing though, so if I can get it fixed sometime Wednesday that will be good. Do you think a system restore will help or am I ...ed? Julien

Hey Jbow. I too messed up. System restore worked for me. I was never prompted for reg. info though. Sorry can't help there.

Hi Jbow... When you pasted the sonarpdr.exe into the X1 folder, did you get the over-write message? If you copied the whole folder (Version_18.1.0.425) then you slipped there as what you need is the sonarpdr.exe file that's in the backup folder and that must be pasted over the existing one (434) in the X1 folder... That will bring you back to 425.... I hope that helps? Keni

Keni, I don't remember but I don't think I got a prompt for that. I copied Version_18.1.0.425 and pasted it into the program files\cakewalk\cakewalk\Sonar X1 Producer folder That did not work so I tried again and moved 425 into SonarPDR.exe that is when the real trouble began. At that point and still.. when I try to open Sonar X1 I get a registration window. The SN listed is a Cxx... etc number, which is not my SN and I cannot change it. I will not accept my Reg number and will not open. I used the Windows search function, found and deleted the version 425 file from SonarPDR.exe, it still will not open, stil with the reg window. I tried to open ver 425 and it says that TSSlame.dll is missing. I copied it and moved a copy to the version 425 folder and it still says it is missing, I've tried to drag and drop it there it just tells me it is missing. I will try a system restore to a few days ago then try again. If that does not work I guess I will have to reinstall but with a corrupt SN I am not sure if that will work. If I re install do I need to delete X1 from my computer first or try installing over what is there? Any help appreciated. J

I had problems doing the same thing when I copied Version_18.1.0.425. You need to open not copy this folder. Copy and paste whats in this folder (Version_18.1.0.425). I don't remember off hand what the file name was, but when I copied this to the Sonar file location it did prompt me to copy and replace.

OK, system restore has me back to ver. 434 (I think that is the version). It opens. After the restore Norton did something that blocked my network, I've spent about 30 minutes getting back online... I feel like I am snake bit with this upgrade but I will try again. Are the instructions about how to roll back incorrect. If they are correct I will try again paying close attention to what I do. First I am going to read a few posts to see if I can better understand what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Julien

I just uninstalled the entire program and deleted all registry entries and reinstalled Sonar X1D from scratch. Hopefully when they do another upgrade, you will be able to do it with the most previous version of sonar. I found that kinda weird that you could not upgrade with the most up to date Sonar version.

Gotta agree with CJ. It's a pretty convoluted (and prone to error) way of updating. I'm putting off doing it until all the horror stories are out.

I never installed the Quickfix and was on build 425. X1d installed right over the top of that without a hitch. 10 minutes it took - including the download time

Yeah... With all the time they stretched the last thing I expected was for the update to be so picky... I guess I was lucky as it went without a hitch for me... I found the 425 build, did the do, and ran the install... I hope X2 is more straight forward... But the fixes seem real good so far... I've found almost everything works as I expected.... But I've far from tried everything. ;-) I'm glad you guys got it done tho... It would be a shame if you waited so patiently just to have to battle it down... Keni

hoping sonar will implement a roll back on some of their later updates down the road..i usualy do a system image(built into windows 7) @jbow,remember norton hates the system restore, been there done that.always had a quirk after sys.restore using norton..dont use it anymore..matter of fact norton is the worst a.v. to be using with a daw/computer on the internet...its a resourse hog and there is no way to totaly disable it..you can shut off the real time scan but it will still always run in the back.
