(Solved) MIDI Question

Hi All!

This just happened suddenly for no apparent reason.

I cannot hear any audio from my midi keyboard/sound module or synth through my monitors, but my interface as well as the midi track in Sonar X1 is responding to the signal when I play my midi keyboard.

On top of that, I can record the signal (sounds from my sound module) on an "Audio Track" that my sound module's Audio Out's are routed to and it records the sounds perfectly, and I can hear the recording on playback just fine!! But I can't hear the midi module's audio from my monitors while I'm playing it in real time!!

Anyone out there who has a suggestion, Please Help!!

That depends on how your module is hooked up.

If that were to happen to me I'd assume that my mixer's channel assign to L-R Buss buttons weren't down. Do you have a similar routing option?

My "Input Echo" button is "On" in my midi track when trying to sound them.
And I don't use a mixer per se (I have a Mackie MCU, and Big Knob).

This is just too strange and I feel it has a very simple explanation.
I've been recording with this midi setup for years, and it seems to have been altered after the latest X1d update.

I also tried recording on the "midi track" and it does indeed record data that I can see within the midi clip!!

    Any other suggestions??

What's bugging me out here is this:

How can I record midi sounds from a sound module onto an audio track that plays those sounds upon playback, but during the recording process I can'y hear anything??

In a word routing. I can do that easily if I wanted to. I know you're not using a mixer but what about software mixer or other routing in your setup? That's where I'd start looking.

What are your sound module audio outs plugged into? How do you normally monitor it?

The problem is with your sound module monitoring. Remember when you play back the recorded audio track it's coming from Sonar not the module. You can't hear the module on the way in because you are not monitoring the module but you are still recording it's output and that will almost certainly be a routing issue.

The solution to this problem was indeed a routing issue in the "Cuemix" software of my new "MOTU 828mk3 Hybrid Interface" (spot on, FastBikerBoy!).

Such a simple adjustment that created 2 1/2 days of utter chaos in my mind and spirit!!

I want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread with such helpful insights.

And I do love the X1d patch update (But I hate learning curves!!!).

    Cheers!
