Komplete 8 ultimate - Should I buy it?

I own maschine mikro and own free copy of komplete elements.

Was woundern if I should crossgrade to konplete 8/ultimate?
or use elements with steven slate drums, abby roads 60, kontakt 5 and reaktor player?

My main concern is kontakt, and battery i feel like is maschine mimik
or can i be worng is it worth owning all three?
Also that maschine comes with instruments so is VST's even worth buying?

I do dream of haveing carrer in music and don't want limited on ideas.

Thanks
Marcus

Komplete 8 and Komplete 8 ultimate are great deals, no two ways about it. There is nowhere else you are going to get as much stuff for that money.

I am pretty sure Elements only includes the Players, the full versions will give you much greater capabilities, for example by owing the full version Kontakt  you can create your own instrumnets and you have access to many free and low cost libraries that will greatly expand your pallet. Check out Hollow Sun, Boulder Sounds and Indiginus, just three of many developers with low cost, high quality Kontakt libraries.

That said I don't have Komplete. Why? I got a half price crossgrade tothe full version Kontakt a while back and have quite a few third party and NI libraries. I have ampltube 3, so the full Guitar Rig is not really needed and I dont think I would use Battery and Reactor much. But if I was starting form scratch Komplete would be my first port of call.

I own both Komplete 6 and Komplete 7.  I am waiting for Komplete 8 Ultimate to go on sale one day--in the past you could get some good sales of Komplete just before the introduction of the next incarnation.

There is a lot of bang for the buck in the Komplete series.  You get the full version of Kontakt 5 with the Komplete 8 instrument libraries; this is a very useful tool.  Having Battery, The Abbey Road Drums, and the Studio Drums are also good tools that will complement your Slate Drums, which I also own.  Along with that there are some of the Scarbee series which has a very good bass and some nice electric pianos that emulate Rhodes and Wurlizters.  If you plan on any keyboard work K8 comes with several decent classical Pianos and a very nice B3 organ (Vintage Organs).  More importantly, having a full version of Kontakt 5 also opens you up to getting 3rd party libraries, which is where Kontakt really shines.

If you do the math, getting Komplete 8 for a crossgrade price at GC for $370 (for example) is almost a no brainer.  For this price, you would only be able to buy perhaps three or four of the instruments individually.  However, for that price you would be getting 27 instruments.  Again, I am waiting for a sale on Ultimate as it has even more (50 instruments).  In case you have not seen it, here is a comparison chart of the Komplete 8 and Komplete 8 Ultimate
    http://www.native-instrum.../komplete-8/?page=2598

I bought Komplete because it really is a big bang for the money, more tools for the studio toolbox.  To be honest, you probably will only use 1/3 to 1/2 of what's in there, but for the money you would have a very good set of tools to use now and to grow into as your dream of a music career blossoms.

Personally, I wouldn't overdo it nowadays but Komplete is a great product. I get most use out of Kontakt and I'd probably buy singles if I needed add-ons. It depends what you have and what you need. The quality is there in the product but do you need it all with so much being inside DAWs and other third party plug-ins available? I would definitely get Kontakt. It covers virtually everything for every genre so it's a great toolbox. There's a full breakdown of what is in all the packages such as Kontakt, Komplete 8 & Komplete ultimate so check them out. They usually do sales around July so wait for the summer discounts.

I bought Komplete 8 a month ago and have no regrets. I find the learning curve and some of the NI conventions a bit challenging but as a newbee it was a great purchase.

i have k5 , 6 AND 7.. and pound for pound in aspects they have got worse..

if you don't own komplete they try to force you to buy deluxe version , the basic wasn't good enough to justify their cost.. and the full one, well most contains sound packs rehashed / recycled.

if it's ya first time buying then great, but as a long term "customer" they have lost my interest by their squeezing us for more money with their antics.

It's nice for kontakt etc.. but well I can see they are gonna lose custom of past users (esp. those of us who own kore and got shafted)

well they pretty much forced people to go for the ultimate version, if your an existing user. Because all the extra features are only in premium..  to me, it looks like they are trying to devalue the company by such actions.

if your new to Komplete than no biggy, but the older versions were more about synths etc.. *NOT* sounds..

since you said you are flogging synths , I'm surprised you didn't get VST's equivalent (I'm tempted to buy something by u-he at the moment) .. I'd re-read your sonar license though, you can't sell it on.. and since 1 version is an upgrade the 2 items are linked.

the sounds in the new one, have been available before as kore packs no doubt, I have some of them = making is less interesting to buy.

I would rather pay for synths and get add on sounds later myself, not have a load of bundled sounds that aren't specifically of use to me *AND* are locked into that plugin..

I have the hardware version of Kore also, and well they discontinued that REALLY quicky.. so I can't trust them with their hardware and will look for alternative solutions to things they sell.

Well main reason selling is lot i don't use. I get what you mean on the upgrades that why I want sell sonar, should stuck with my musiuc creator 3 - haha

    So I can't sell sonar?

As for ivory italian grand well i hate useing ilok, plus wish own acoustic piano. ha

Well my other option is to buy kontakt 5 and maybe ssd 4 platium.
been doing this for years and feel time to upgrade to somethan better.
i use own dimension pro but felt like waste money most sounds were a duplicate.

@laney awsome let me know how turns out.

well the upgrade price you got on sonar, was based on the fact your an existing customer.. if that's how you bought it, even with MC3.

to install sonar you had to tick to "agree" about it.. errm there is 2 tick boxes you have to agree to or it won't install.

can't speak for that piano, kontakt has some obviously , but I also use the ones in Reason.

    Marcus,

you can't resell SONAR, if you've used the serial number.  The registration probably won't work when your buyer tries it.

YOu'll see a lot of sellers doing just that - selling the copied software and the serial number.  When the buyer tries to register it, no go.
