Sonar X1 layout Tutorial

Hello,

I am still struggling a bit to get the layout work for me.
How to I resize the track view to the left monitor only? I drab the right side of the track view to the left but it only resizes to about half way of the second screen (right monitor).
I like to work with the track view on the left monitor and the console view on the right monitor.
Then I could use the dock for other stuff.

Or, when I score for film, I have the track view and console view on the left monitor on the dock, switching from one to the other using the D key, and the Video window on the right monitor.

Or I am missing something here?

Is there a good tutorial on this? On how to arrange all windows to suit you workflow?

Regards

Joni

Chuckebaby has answered it for you, the TV is the mainstay of the program. That doesn't mean you can't have it on your left monitor though.

Just open the program there and then undock other stuff to use on the other monitor(s). You may need to set it to always open on that monitor using your display management software or set it as primary display from within windows (I think that works).

I use DisplayfusionPro for my display management but they do a cut down free version if you need one.

    Hi Chuckebaby,

I do understand that...but it doesn't solve my problem.
But I want to resize it because I don't want it to go to second monitor as it is now. It goes to half way of the second monitor. I want it to be full screen on just the first monitor.

    Please advise.

    Description is not fully clear.
    What exactly do you do?

Maximize Sonar main window, and then try making TV stay within the left monitor?

If so, try make Sonar main window within left monitor and see if that helps. Normal view of Sonar and size it to left.

It could be they do not allow TV to be less than a certain amount of main window size(overlooking double monitor situation).

When undocking it should be possible to move these parts separately to right monitor anyway.

I think I understand the problem. It sounds to me like djoni has the main Sonar window maximised across both monitors. That's not really the best way to work. You should have it maximised to just one monitor. Then you can float whatever other windows you like outside of that.

    what video card you have>
if ati use CCC, in there is your answer i think
if its nvidia go to n vidia contol panel and set you display from there
make eather monitor your main from there. if you ATI as i do
you can set your vision  control center and set up a 3 monitor aray as they use for gaming there . thats how i set up my tv as main and use the second monitor below for the track view main. it can be done

basicly in there you make 2 desktop . this is if you main desktop pic spans across you 2 monitors
you want it to be 2 seperate monitor from there then sonar will open on 1 monitor. track view on the one you have in the first monitor the undock you stuff and drag , open, save,

John T. Thanks. You nailed it. My problem was that sonar's main windows was maximized across both monitors.
Now everything makes sense. Thanks to everyone.

The way I have it set up is simply to have the multidock maximised in the second monitor. I have all other views set to automatically open in there. Really easy to work with.
