i2600 or i2600k

Updated my computer and was wondering if there were advantages to getting an i2600k over the i2600?  Besides the processor being unlocked, is there a difference?

With the unlocked 2600k I'm able to easily overclock to 4.2ghz per CPU.  That alone is a very good reason to choose the 2600k.

Here's the kicker, the 2600 is only worth the small saving if you are putting it on an H67 chipset, but if you are using the on chip graphics which is likely why you'd be using and H67 board, you'll get better perfomance out of the 3000 series graphics on the k chip.

I think Intel had a brain fart when introducing the first Sandy bridge chips.  Strikes me they should have had the lesser on chip graphics on the unlocked chip on a P67 board where most likely users would be using an add on graphics card anyway and put the 3000 series graphics on the locked chip.

So basically it's whether you want to put the chip on anything other than an H67 board in which case go for the K,  I went for a K chip even with an H67 board because I wanted to save on the overall build price and didn't want to pay for a video card and wanted the flexibility of being able to change the board and overclock mid-life in this machines planned existence.

Given the new boards that are available now I'd go with the K chip everytime today.

If there's any chance you want to overclock the 2600, get the K version.

As was mentioned, the onboard 3000 series video is also better on the K version.
FWIW, On more fully featured/spec'd DAWs, I prefer a dedicated video card.

Can the 2600s be overclocked? Or should that also be paired with a H67?
