What is this purple line?
it showed up when I imported the stings MIDI file into that track. this is not the first time I've seen this, both times it was when I imported a MIDI track. I've tried to search for an answer, but haven't figured this out. it covers both the MIDI track and the associated KONTAKT OUTPUT track, but not on other tracks. anyone know what it is?

Some sort of controller info? Does it show in the event list?

there's nothing in the MIDI events at that time except notes. there's no controllers except velocity at that point.

Perhaps it is some sort of marker that relates to something in the original source and as a result doesn't show in Sonar except for a marker point. Just guessing though.

that's really the only thing that makes sense to me, and I thought it might be that as well. it doesn't seem to affect anything, so it's not a big deal.

Any chance of testing it in another DAW? Be interesting if it was a unique behavior in Sonar.

Did you happen to split or combine two clips at measure 9?

nope. that line showed up as soon as I imported that midi track. another strange occurance - I TRIED to split clips near there and it wouldn't split execpt at measure 17, no matter what my snap to grid setting was or even if it was off. I closed sonar and reopened and then the line was gone and I could split normally.

DING DING DING. Alarm bells ringing in my head......... Every time I can't split a clip except in the 'wrong' one place, I have inadvertedly entered 'extended' mode by pressing '0' on my numeric keypad. I've never noticed the line before but sure enough, I've just tried it on my laptop and up pops the purple line. Press number pad '0' again to get out of that mode.

On another note - what did you do to Sonar? Looks more like 8.53 than X1. I'm happy for you if you like it, but... me... I like it stock. Cheers.

I know what the problem is, I didn't say I know what "extended mode" is...... Seriously though, I think it is something to do with the V-700, other than that I'm clueless. Perhaps one of the V-700 users knows. I discovered it by pure chance while trying to get a recipe for the split "bug" I thought I'd found. I believe it was Scott Garrigus who told me what the problem was when I posted on here. That's as much as I know, other than it's caught a few people out.
