Can not download X1D update

Will there ever be a time when I don't have issues with Cakewalk updates/downloads.

Been trying since Thursday evening to download X1d

  1. Click the download link
  2. Wait about 5 mins for save box to appear
  3. Click save
  4. My downloads window appears "expandedx1dpatch.....................blah blah"
  5. Press save    and nothing happens, everything just hangs.
Have disabled firewall and antivirus, still same problem

Cakewalk have not replied since Friday.  Any solutions!!!

The only thing I can think of is to try to download it from another computer (from the public library, a relatives house, or a friend's house,) place it on a USB stick or burn it to a disk and bring it to the computer with X1 on it.

They normally supply you with a link if the one you are trying doesn't work. Hopefully someone on here may spot it and sort you out. Shout 'Webinar' three times and they appear.

I found the download very slow at times, but I used a download manager, which helps if network traffic is high and/or glitchy. I used Free Download Manager.

Try another computer or OS Drive if you have one, almost a necessity. Save them to a usb flash drive or cdrw.

I keep all my Setup/Update stuff on that. Comes in Handy. One of my os drives couldn't download the updates. it kept renaming them with Long Extensions, then would fail.

I had to download them on another PC then put them on the Flash Drive

    Actually no, Apparently.

I had so Many problems problems with X1 downloads I had to buy the Box Version to Install it Correctly. Thank god the Box set is Cheaper now.

Try dowloading on another PC and save to usb flash drv or cd/cdrw/dvd.

It's a toss between a Windows Problem and Cakewalk. Who knows. I now have 3 Computers and Multple OS Drives. That way i have A/B Comparisons, very Helpfull.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,

I had the same problem as you. I downloaded on a different computer and it was fine - but that doesn't explain what the problem is. I seem to have a lot of problems downloading from the Amazon cloud (with different programs etc. I'm pretty sure the Cakewalk site is in the Amazon cloud too). I don't know if it's got something to do with being in the UK, or because Firefox is on the problem machine (Cakewalk.com doesn't even load in Firefox, so I always use IE9 for the Cakewalk site).

Anyway - I'll report back if I find a solution but for now - it loks like some computers just can't download these patches! :-\

This happens to me, with almost every download from Cakewalk.

When it first starts to download, it looks like it is trying - but nothing ever happens.
I immediately cancel that attempt, and try again. This time it comes in as expected. For me, this works 100% of the time.

I have no idea what the problem is - but that's how I get it to work.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

    Thanks Bristol,
It downloads fine with IE9 on my other PC (same Win 7 x64) - so I don't know what the issue is.

Thanks for the input everyone. Well I could not get it to work, Cakewalk sent me the other link for YOU SEND IT, which has worked for me in the past, but not this time!!!!!!! So I have got to put it down to my computer, just does not seem to like Cakewalk links.

But took the advice and used a laptop, IE9, Windows 64 bit (same as my PC) and it worked 100%

Flash USB to my pc, copied over to desktop, and installed (slight problen in keep having to press "retry" a lot of times due to read only files...UAC off)?

But its up and running, seems to be no problems in the short time I have been running it, loving the the new eq GUI.

    Thanks all.

Do some of you that have problems run speed test checks on your internet connections to make sure things are ok? Good to check ping rates, download speeds etc. I haven''t seen any problems at all on good connections.

There isn't anything particularly special about these updates that would prevent you from downloading them like any other file from the internet, particularly those hosted by S3 servers.

Just to check I started an X1D download shortly before writing this response and Chrome reports that it will take about 15 minutes over my laptop's Wireless G connection. Now I'm down to less than 9 minutes left with about 100mb so far. First try. Not being defensive of Cakewalk.  but it's hard for me to fathom how it could be something we're doing - or not doing.

Update: Just checked on a wireless N machine and it says 9 minutes for entire download. First download is now finished and checks out ok.

Glad to see you finally got the update Jason! Enjoy.

    Brandon,

I think it has something to do with the Amazon Cloud. I get the same problem with Kirk Hunter stuff and he's on th eAmazon Cloud too. The download url has all this key activation and timeout stuff in it. Most people don't have problems with this - but I do :-\

I was able to download fine on another partition (my music partition) on the same machine that had problems - so it's not download speeds etc.

I don't think there's anything you can do to help - but I sure wish I could figure out what *I* can do...

News Flash! I got the downloads to work in Firefox!

I found the solution in this thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2513906

Specifically, go here http://support.mozilla.or...s/899452#answer-279537  and delete the cakewalk.com cookies.

I can download the X1d patch normally now! (note to self, try this for th eKirk Hunter site next time...)
