brick limiter plug , or your best purchase for mixing?

so i came across a few bucks to buy a plug in or two.
im looking at the  brick limiter. but that wont add anything to the sound like a comp. Right just cuts peaks
so if you have exspanded what was your first plug, or what was the best plug for mixing you payed for.
low buget choices please . not that i wouldnt love a UI card or waves suite.
whats the best choice in plugs for mixing thats not more than my rent??
so far iv heard the brick limiter is the workhorse for the sonar gurus>>
thoughts?????????????????????if you had a 100 bucks that whould you buy??
 besides lessons??

I don't use expanded but mostly FabFilter Pro-L. For $100.00 budget check Tonebooster's Barricade. Voxengo's Elephant price keeps going up but it's a good choice for $120.00.

The Brick Wall Limiter from T-Racks 3 is very nice.
FWIW, I prefer it to Waves L2.
You can get it as a single plugin for $99.  If you catch a sale, you can get it for less.

'You can get it as a single plugin for $99.  If you catch a sale, you can get it for less. '

If you already own an IK Multimedia product, apparently you can upgrade (or crossgrade or some such) to TRacks Deluxe this month for $99 -- that's the Brickwall limiter and just about every TRacks plugin made (except for a couple new vintage compressor emulations).

I've heard it said that if you don't own any IKM products, buying one of the little iPad items will qualify you for this sale.

    That's an incredibly good deal.
The Pultec EQ and Brickwall Limiter alone are worth it.
If you like a Fairchild type compressor, that's also part of the bundle... as is a nice Opto style comp.

FF Pro-L is my favorite without doubt.  It is amazingly transparent.  The new Cake plugs are decent, however, and can/will do the job.  THere are differences though between those and the FabFilter plugins for sure.  FF are making some of the best plugins on the market, imho.

So if budget is the issue, go with the Cake plugs in Expanded and you'll be ok.  If budget is not so much an issue, look into the FabFilter stuff for sure.

You probably know we have the T-RackS Deluxe Group Buy where you can get the Black or White single for free when it reaches 2,000 registrations (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3035 or http://www.ikmultimedia.com/deluxepromo). However, many do not know that we have T-RackS 3 Deluxe now available as a crossgrade from MANY IK products, and it is only $99.99/€74.99

+1...The T-Racks cross grade deal is a steal!!!! If you don't already own an IK multimedia product you can buy a single plug and crossgrade to T-Racks deluxe.
That would definitely give you bang for your hard earned plug-in buck.

brick limiter plug , or your best purchase for mixing?

Everyone's assuming you're looking for a limiter, but the thread title suggests you've just got a hundred bucks to spend and you're looking for the best way to spend it. Of course, if you currently do not own a good limiter, then that's probably your best bet. Any of the previous suggestions ought to work fine.

I'll answer the second part of your question: my best purchase for mixing for under $100. That would have to be ValhallaRoom (reverb). Fifty bucks, and I use it in almost every project. That's called getting your money's worth.

Now, if the question is what was my best all-around purchase for mixing regardless of price, that would have to be FabFilter's Pro-C. It's a general-purpose workhorse compressor that you can use for just about any compression task. You don't hear a lot of talk about it, it's not particularly sexy and it's not a new product. But no other plugin gets used more here.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Another really really good one, if you can come up with another $100, is Ozone 5-

You can use it as all in one plugin or individual parts of it in tracks etc. A whole lot of value for the price!
