What headphones for VRM Box mixing?

There was d discussion that I can not find about using VRM box to mix.  One contributor recommended use of
AKG headphones, but I do not remember the model.  What headphones do you recommend?

This probably belongs in Hardware, but I'll reply here anyway.

My recommendation is Sennheiser ... the best model you can afford.  But then, that would be my answer to any question about "best headphones" irrespective of whether used for mixing or just listening pleasure.  I'm a huge fan of their headphones and have been so for 25 years.

I love my HD600's. Comfortable and precise. ~$400 but well worth the price.

I've had them for over a year now. Hope they never die.

I have two pairs of the higher-end Sennheiser models (and two lower-end ones as well).  After years of considerable use, some issues developed with the older of them that I couldn't deal with by just ordering a replacement cord.  No problem.  Sent the to Sennheiser for refurbishing and for about a hundred bucks (25-30% of the original cost) they were returned as good as new.

Is anyone having issues with VRM & X1d? I was having an issue with the audio engine going out intermitantly.

I unplugged it and ran my headphones direct to my audio interface and so far so good.

Maybe I need to test this out a bit

Works great for me. Win7 64, X1d. I think it's a great reference tool, especially if you have a less than ideal room to mix in. KRK KNS6400 came with the bundle, but I like my AKG's better (havent spent that much time with the KNS6400 really). I find that it has really helped my mixing translate better on other systems.

I have always been a Sennheiser user, but after some issues with the last 2 pairs, I decided to jump ship, and bought the VRM & KRK KNS-8400 combination.

At first, I must admit, I wasn't too sure, but after a month of using this setup, I do not look back. Awesome  headphones and love the VRM box, it defianatley is helping my finished mastering to sound better on different speaker setups.

Headphones are a great value -- you get great sound for the money. That's why I recommend you get the best you can afford.

I have the Sennheiser HD-800s and I love them. Sure they're expensive, but they're a lot cheaper than a car. I also have a very good headphone amp and DAC, which are also mportant.
