Request for Step Recording

Hi. in sequencing MIDI, I actucally record it by perform it live and Step Recording
 
Step Recording is one of my favourite feature all the time.
 
But there is one downside of this feature, when I change track selection to another track, (while step recording is on) Step recording destination track keep staying in the original track. I wish I could easily select track by just clicking the track.
I know I can select track by choosing track under the destination track" but in reality when tracks are many it's quite tedious and cumbersome to find the exact track I want to step record in the destination track field.
 
please enhance Step Recording so I can record it faster than ever before!
 
I'm going to request it but.. what do you think?
