Recording Midi Drums not working

I have Stebven Slate 4 and BFD Eco Zildjian cymbals set up to record. I can play and hear them just fine. I arm to record, the metrome kicks out 2 measures. When record should kick in, the record light goes out. Tried it w/ 3 other synths, all same results. Am I missing something? Thanks, Shep

I looked at this for half an hour before posting. I manually turned off punch in (which defaults at measure 1:1 to 1:1). It keeps kicking back on when I press record
