Freeze-unfreeze V-Vocal bug?

Hey All

I'm in the middle of a project and I'm running into an annoying problem.  If I freeze a track with V-Vocal on it and then I unfreeze the track to make a change V-Vocal doesn't work.  It looks like it's working on the graphical display but it's not changing the clip at all.  I tried tuning up a couple of notes or time shifting a lot and the graphics indicate the change has been made but my ears tell me no change.   In fact I seem to lose all the V-Vocal editing when I unfreeze.  Anyone else run into this.

Hmm... I don't think I've ever read about someone freezing V-Vocal. All the posts I've read say  you should bounce after the edits.

So, I don't have the answer, I just somehow assume V-Vocal isn't good for freezing.

    I thought one could only freeze soft-synths. V-Vocal isn't a soft-synth.

I freeze an active v-vocal clip all the time. That way, you retain the ability to edit it if you need to without having to create another v-vocal clip. (Each time you do you loose a little bit of the high frequencies...) WestudioS... when you unfreeze a v-vocal clip, the v-vocal is "by-passed" by default. You can tell by looking at the "check marks" - they are slightly grayed. Just select the track after unfreeszing, right click v-vocal bypass/unbypass. You will see the check marks get dark again. Rick

PS - to me, when the track unfreezes V-vocal state should be back as it was - but it doesn't work like that. Must be a bug?

V-Vocal tracks can be frozen tho with issues. the official statement is that we're not supposed to do this and we are to Bounce V-Vocal tracks instead...

Not very different tho Bouncing requires more extra work to hide the midi track... A few clicks... I personally prefer using freeze tho I have stopped doing this due to the issues with it...

As to freezing itself? It is not only for freezing synths. It will freeze audio tracks and thus relieve the cpu drain of any plugins on the track (including PC)... So it seems to be only V-Vocal tracks that cannot be frozen...

I don't remember how this applies to audiosnap tracks???

I ran into the same thing.  Eventually I stumbled upon flameout's solution.  Click bypass and click again to unbypass.

v vocal was bugged in 8-5 so if you leave it open at some point it crash's your projects. and seing how they gave us the same useless plugs in x1 .
im not surprised, ALWAYS BOUNCE YOUR TRACKS AFTER TWEEKING WITH VVOCAL'
its not safe to let that run behind your project, and i wouldnt freeze it.

Thanks all.  It all sounds like very useful info.  In fact I have had V-Vocal crash my project but was able to recover by starting in safe mode and stop V-Vocal from loading.  I never noticed the bypass thing but will tuck that little tidbit away and I think I will stick to bouncing rather than freezing my V-Vocal tracks anyways.

    Happy Recording
