What kind of PC/Laptop are you using w/ your V-Studio 100?????

Was curious what peeps were using and or if anyone had any advice in that regard?

My current laptop is running an older AMD duo core, w/3 gigs of ram. I'm thinking of getting a new laptop w/ an i7 core processor and 8 gigs of ram.

With a machine like that, I'd say you'd have your bases covered. I'm using a W7 x64 pc w/ a 2.8GHz intel 2core 8gigs and I have no trouble with 12+ tracks loaded with plugins (many of which are hogs).

Hey guys - new member here. I am considering upgrading my recording setup from a Boss 8 Track BR-864.

What i'm thinking of getting is the VS-100 and Sonar X1 Producer

Now my question is whether my laptop's specs are good enough to run this setup:
    - Windows 7 64 Bit
    - Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4Ghz
    - 4GB RAM
    - 200GB + available on the Hard Disk

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should be alright to run basic projects with no problems. I don't know what kind of stuff you'll be doing, but high track/buss counts (15+) with lots of plugs and/or soft synths will probably max it out.

    Thanks for the input

I'll basically be doing Hard Rock/Metal with 5-6 guitar tracks (including bass), a drum track, and maybe 1 or two synth tracks, and a couple of vocals.
    SO total about 10 tracks

I use it primarily with the DAW listed in my signature, but also use it remotely when needed on a laptop as well, it's several years old now, but still works very well with both Sonar X1 PE and my V-Studio 100.  It is a Toshiba X205 Sli3 with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2G processor and 4 GB or RAM, it also has 2x160GB Hard Drives and a dedicated 512 MB Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card (it's nice that it's a dedicated card and shares no system memory as is common on many laptops) with a 17" display running at 1680x1050.

It's mainly going to depend on what kind of projects you plan to do and what plugs you use. I recently started using the Eddie Kramer Signature plugins and they are pigs for cpu. I've got 19 tracks with one or two plugs in only a couple of tracks' fx bins, but about six busses with quite a few plugs in each and I'm maxed out. The automation is causing mad glitches and it's hard to hear what's going on.

Well i've purchased the VS-100 today, got a good deal, but will not buy Sonar X1 just yet

Plan to demo X1 as well as Sonar VS that comes bundled with the VS-100, and Ableton Live 8 which some friends have reccomended

Will see how it goes - excited though!
