ASUS U46E. Which program would be best?

Hi everyone,

I have a new ASUS U46E laptop that I bought for general use. This will not be a dedicated DAW, but it won't be on-line alot either. I also have an unopened Guitar Tracks Pro 4 that I've had sitting here a long time and I am wondering how that would work with this laptop. The other choice would be to download SONAR X1. The laptop has an Intel i5, a 3.0 USB and a 2.0 USB, a processor speed of 2.50 Ghz, and 7200 rpm.

I know it might be trial and error to see which would be more compatible, but I want to have an educated idea before I try either. This laptop will not be used a lot for recording, and it will be mostly for songwriting, playing over backing tracks, and other fun projects that won't use a lot of plugins and other resources, and won't be running a lot of tracks at once. I'll record one or two tracks at a time, and I can't imagine going over 16 tracks in a final mix, and 4-8 tracks would be more likely. For the serious stuff I'll use my dedicated DAW. The laptop will just be for fun.

I'd like your opinion of ASUS U46E. Here is a link to the machine and the specs. It's in Intel i5 and has USB 3

and here's another site that features it:

(the latter is from the Best Buy site, in case the link doesn't work)

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing your ideas, suggestions, and general input.

It's a nice looking laptop, and I think Sonar would run on it. Do you have an interface for it?

The CPU looks a bit pokey. I might try Reaper on it if Sonar isn't happy.

Seems like downloading a trial of Sonar and seeing how it works for you would be good.
