WAVES V9 install...Just checking

OK.  I've got my licenses registered for my new Kramer Sig set and HLS Channel.  And all my old stuff is now WUPed to 2014.  So here's my plan.  If anything sounds wrong, stupid or just plain dumb do not hesitate to tell me:-)

1.  Go to the programs and features section of the control panel and uninstall both WAVES V7 and V8.

2.  Delete all waveshell .dll files (including the JBridged ones) in my VST folder(s).

3.  Registry clean???

4.  Download and run new WAVES V9 installer and follow directions.

Question:  Will the V9 installer ask me anything like do you want to update or upgrade your older plugins, as per usual??
And will it show all the plugins I currently own, as per usual??

PS:  Do I need to delete all the old references to the WAVES plugins from the folders in my X1 plug in manager??

    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. I did not
    4. Duh! LOL!

Answer, not if everything is gone.

PS. I did not but it would not hurt, I'd say.

ol pal , in the plugin manager you can keep it or not ....no big deal : sonar will find and put in the right place (as designed in the manager) if the ID in registry is the same ...if this unique id changed(due to the new install) , the reference in the plugin manager will not find it , and so will not display the plugin in the manager (in the sonar regualr view) even if it's still displayed in the plugins manager view windows...(where you can choose , add folder ect ....)

To see if if it's still pointing a plugin just double clikc on the plugin in the manager view and see in the small windows (like a propertie window) if you see a targeted dll

OK... I did all of the above.  Then I downloaded and installed V9.  Now, when I run the "license installer it only shows my two "new" licenses and not any of my old ones.  What gives??

Did you physically move any .dlls?

I did once (back in V7) and it wreaked havoc.

Well, whatever it was I did or didn't do...I still had V8 stuff showing up in the plug in manager.  Although I had deleted and uninstalled everything.   In any case all I had to do was PAINSTAKINGLY exclude all the V8 effects in the plugin manager and then everything was running hot straight and normal EXCEPT "Audio Track" which I got as one of those $15 No-Brainer thingys from audiomidi.  It may be they haven't ported that up to V9 yet.  Check on that, will ya.  In any case...once I left that out of the equation (and excluded all the V8 plugs) everything is running hot straight and normal.

Just noticed something else.  My Kramer Sig set has no factory presets.  All my other Sigs show all the factory presets just fine but not the Kramer.  Maybe he didn't include any???

So my dear yorolpal from what you have experienced with the V9 install, what do you see as the preferred method for successfully upgrading from v8 to v9?  I just bought into Waves in December 2011 so I am good for a free v9 and I definitely want the x64 platform

I have deliberately been waiting for the smoke to clear from all the v9 downloads and installs and to see what my colleagues in Sonar-land see as best way to do this, and to see what the pitfalls are that should be avoided.

So how does this v9 upgrade work?

If you follow my above steps it works fine.  You won't have to jump through some of the hoops I did as my stuff had been so far out of WUP.  So far....so good.
