Semi Software related question re USB thumb drive...

I bought a new USB flash drive for my WAVES licenses.  Works fine except everytime I power up my DAW now I get the autoplay dialog that asks me do I want to open and view the folders on that drive.  I went into the autoplay dialog and thought I'd turned it off.  But no love.  There is no listing in that dialog for drives or USB devices...just stuff like CDs and DVDs and whatnot.  Anyone know how to turn off the autoplay feature on a USB drive??

See this, it appears to be a common complaint in Windows 7.

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/disable-external-usb-drive-autoplay-windows-7-pro/f74e4d8a-c4ba-4bd3-b521-97596ea39734

By the way, I found this doing a google search for "disable autoplay in windows 7 for usb drives"

Gee, under my antiquated, obsolete OS (XP) the option is right there in the dialog. This is what happens when you try to make software too smart, and it's not the only example of having to edit the registry to circumvent some W7 arrogant presumption.

    Here are the instructions: http://www.samlogic.net/articles/autorun-enable-disable-nodrivetypeautorun.htm

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

This are some instruction for your question : To get to the configuration screen for this setting, go to Start Menu \ Run and type in: gpedit.msc You will see the Group Policy window. You should select Administrative Templates \ System in the tree view. You will see an item in the right side pane called “Turn off Autoplay” Double click the item, and set the radio button to Enabled, and change the “Turn off Autoplay on” to All Drives. DONE :). to read more about this try looking here : http://www.techyv.com/que...ay-feature-disc-drives
