Sonar 8.5.3 Soundcard Mac Boot camp

Hi all, I have tried searching for some good solid info on this subject but come up empty handed. Basically I am buying a new iMac with all the upgrades. I will be running Windows 7 via Bootcamp and Sonar 8.5.3 (maybe upgrade to X1). I presently use an EMU 0202 with my XP Laptop and am pretty sure it wont work when I upgrade to the iMac. So with this in mind I am researching new USB soundcards online. I have come up with the Fast Track C400 so far but even that doesnt really seem to confirm it will work under Bootcamp with Sonar. So is anyone running the set up I am buying and if so, what sound card do you suggest. Budget up to about 300 UK Pounds. Thank you in advance.

I recomend posting this on Gear Slutz. Lot's of Mac users there, probably none here.
They will probably talk you into using Pro Tools or Logic as Sonar is not on the radar of Mac users I think.

This part of the Sonar forum is a bit of a dead end now. You could also try the Hardware forum or X1 forum. And they will probably talk you out of wasting money on an iMac unless you were going to run Logic.

While I don't have any NEW macs, I do have a 2008 MacPro and two MacBookPros from 2009 that I bootcamp and run Sonar on. Generally speaking, a Mac is a PC with a different method of booting. Once it's up and running they're essentially the same thing so I don't anticipate any problems for you. Sonar runs great on those Macs. The only gotcha is that if something does go wrong then getting support can be difficult. MOTU won't give you any help whatsoever, RME and Lynx will. Those are the companies I've dealt with, so I don't know if M-Audio will give you any help. There is an M-Audio forum, so maybe ask over there.

Thanks guys. Just to clarify my situation. I moved to Dubai a year ago. Basically it is very hard to build a studio dedicated PC here. I have been trying to source all the components I need and its near on impossible. Also shipping components here is difficult, expensive and risky. So the only option I have is to buy a Mac from Apple in the UAE with as high as spec as possible. I did initially ship my studio PC out here but it was killed during shipping. You see my problem. I did get a quotation for a PC that would have the same spec as the Mac I am buying and it was nearly twice as much as the Mac. So I am left with no option really. But thanks again for your help.

It's interesting how marketing works in other parts of the world. II guess Steve Jobs and Hitler had one thing in common-rule the world. Well Macs are pretty decent machines so good to hear it should work fine for you. Good luck.

Ooops scratch all that. I've found someone selling a 6 month old PC locally with the following spec. This'll do nicely thank you. Obviously I will get another sound card.
