"This World" - A doomsday rocker for the doomsday preppie type (Like me! :)

Trying to do some new things and bump things up a notch. Also tried to pay attention to details. But more sets of better ears could certainly help to make it better.

Thanks,

Joe..

    Hi Joe,
I can hear all the parts very clearly - that's good.  I think the lyrics call for a more desperate vocal delivery!  I liked the breaks in both spots.  Drums are too compressed IMHO.  The vocals and sound at the end where it repeats works.  I would end it there and not bring back the soldier clip.

    Nice work and very creative.

Rimshot, thanks to you my wife can now say "I told you so".

She told me to lose the Marching at the end. I went to a lot of trouble to get it there and was torn with removing it. But you and others commented on the same thing so I pulled it and will admit it has more impact at the end.

You were also spot on with the drums. I backed the comp off the drums and the bass and the entire bottom end cleaned up and both are more distinct now standing out better in the mix. So thanks for the suggestions, ears, and listening!

My friend Sara did the vocals and I think she did a great job. I understand the comment about more desparate and we discussed bumping it up a few notches. I told her I'm gonna make her do a few shots before recording the next time :). I like what she did and will probably leave it for now though. If I did the singing, that would be desparate :)

I agree the drums sound too compressed , overall the song is cool but the mix needs some honey added to it to sweeten things up .
Not real honey , a remix job !

You have a good one , a few fixes and you have a sure winner !

I like it.... I don't have much time this AM to offer much advice..... I have work to do and a long ride to get there....

I like to watch that show preppers that you referred to as I tend to fall into the "conspiracy nut" category in varying degrees.  One thing that could happen is that suddenly the world wakes up, "gets it" and all the world leaders get together hug and sing koom by ya in a big circle while roasting marsh mellos..... and everything is lovely ......

On the other hand, if that doesn't happen^^^^^^^ ..... better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Just for grins... here is a song link to something I wrote along this line back in 2008... right before the election, although it was not actually related to the election, it was just a coincidence that it was finished at that time  >>>>  http://www.soundclick.com...134&songID=7202047

    good job on the song

    Thanks for the listen.

Guitarhacker - Very appropriate and some similatirites in theme. Good tune and loved the harmony guitar parts.

    Cool song Joe!

Top notch mix, everything sounds great - I especially love the tone on the rhythm guitars.

And well thought out and thought-provoking lyrics too.

This is a great song! I like this alot! The only thing I'd change is the drum compression as mentioned by Rimshot. It sounds great on my system! Thanks for posting.

sounds pretty damn good soundwise. this is a genre quite oft exploited, see Christian Mistress, Blood Ceremony etc but the technical guitar you throw in is different and works...i like a lot!

Sounds like a bit too much compression, but isn't that how things are these days? :)

I liked it, but my dogs hated the beginning. :)

This song ROCKS!  I think you have excellent advice from the group above. Great job on verb/delay effects, really adds a depth to your mix.  EXCELLENT song structure/ performance !

Great job. Loved the guitars. Thought the vocal was a little hot and that the bass could come up a tad.
