What are some good PC2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier settings for vocals?

I want to record lead vocals and then of course some backing vocals at another time. What are some good go to settings that would make my vocal recordings sound great in the mix? Hopefully Cakewalk can add a list of presets to all of their Expanded Modules at some point in future updates like guitartrek suggested. A lot of us don't know what we're doing and just tweaking knobs, experimenting until we get some results. But some of you know what you're doing and can share your knowledge and experience with the rest of us.

Hi dude ....it really depends on type of vocals .....

To begin in safe mode .....understand the knob labeled R37 ...if you turn it to left it will reduce sibilance and preety act like a desser ...in flat , all frequency will be treated the same , in midlle 50/50 .......begin with that for vocals .....

and then turn the peak reduction knob to have 6 db of gain reduction (max 10 on heavy vocals type)

The best way to use this is on bus ....we rarelly use it as the first comp for vocals , compress (1176 , Cl1B,...), eq vocals on tracks , then send those track to a bus where you can treat them commonly and put this baby on (i also put the waves mpx sometime)

It is important to note that you cannot get those values from the knob itself, you need to use/read/interpret the meter. The input level of the track (or bus) is going to have a huge impact on how much you have to adjust the peak reduction knob.

The nice thing about this compressor (like all 2A styles) is it's simplicity. Simply set the desired compression with the "peak reduction knob" then adjust the make up gain as needed.

As for presets, check out this thread. It appears some may have been installed with the expansion.

OK thanks guys, will try your tips once I get a decent mic. Anyone else with their own PC2A vocal settings they'd like to share?

Your settings for vocals will depend on several factors. You have to use your ears. Where the peaks are in the vocal peice. The environment you're in. What you're using for a mic and mic pre. What mood you're trying to capture. The mental state of the singer. Geez I've gone to far.

OK, thanks fellas, but what about the knob that's in the center, right below the meter. At first glance, first time ever seeing the PC2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier, it looked a lot different than the PC4K and my thoughts were, "I'm gonna have to learn how to use this thing". But as you guys pointed out, only 2 knobs to worry about right? But what are the other knobs for?

If you have the module selected and press F1 the manual will appear. You will be able to read it and find out about this amazing plugin in fine detail.
