Thank goodness my satellite lost signal ...
... I was in the middle of watching John Fogerty in concert at Sturgis on the Palladia Channel. His band was horrible. I remember a time when you couldn't tell his live shows from the studio recordings. Sad, very sad.

On the other end of the spectrum, I was watching a relatively recent Yes concert, and was startled at how tight they were. Anderson's vocals were bang on (he could still hit the high notes). Squire can still rock the bass like no other. Bruford is still tight on percussion. Only Howe seemed to struggle a bit on guitar. Not sure who the Keyboardist is. He is young, though he was very good.

I saw Yes a couple of years ago, after Benoit David replaced JA and Oliver was with them. I was not impressed with him.

I've heard there's a new contraption called a remote where you can change channels and all sort of other stuff.

Over here, in the US, we keep the UK in a staionary orbit, just above France, so we don't lose track of them.

By putting the centre of the universe next to France it makes it easier to find...

Hi, There are only a couple of these I have seen since the early days, that was worth it and did really well ... actually one and a half. Tangerine Dream was great ... even now, as it ever was, and in concert are extremely clean and polished. It's an awesome accomplishment to see this, time and again and it does not hurt the music they do, even if it is different all the time. Of all the rock bands and what not, Magma was the most surprising of them all, and I had forgotten that I had heard many live albums and they had different casts with them ... so in 1999 in SF I thought they would either look silly and stupid or blow out the audience. 15 minute standing ovation and Christian with tears in his eyes should tell you the result! Still won't help anyone here ... but what the heck ... magnificence doesn't die ... it continues living forever because it is who those people are! Gong was ok with Pip (a bit jazzy) in 95 and then rock'ier and better for me with Pierre (monster on the drums) and then very light and not as strong in their next incarnation. I personally stopped chasing the old bands after this, because it was sad. The International Music Festival in 1999 was great for me ... you could see new blood wanting to take you away ... Brand X was a shadow of its greatness and not that good ... and some folks like Lana Lane and the Rocket Scientists from Los Angeles were far superior and more professional than some of the better known acts. Clean presentation, and excellent work all around ... just not appreciated enough ... and with one of the very best Stick players out there on bass ... that you will never hear! All in all, some of the get togethers and various older folks I have heard, are not half as good as they were before ... and I think the youthful exhuberance is the difference. Even Peter Hammill is starting to sound repetitive. I think he needs to sit alone in a white room again ... to find himself again with his own words. Klaus Schulze still sounds very good and interesting, though one could easily say that the format is starting to sound rather repetitive, but the different sounds and combinations is always a treat. I have not heard a single reunion that was worth it ... and better than the original or earlier days ... and one of the worst things in Portland, is that this area does not do keyboards and every band that has keyboards sounds (and smells) worse than Beagle's poop! And twice Ozric Tentacles has sounded absolutely horrible! No flute and no keyboards!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
