So crazy it just might work: drag VST into PChannel

The ability to drag individual VSTs directly into the ProChannel. Not drag the FX bin into PC. Why would I want that?

As the PChannel modules have grey bars the VSTs in the PC could have say green bars to illustrate their origin. Double clicking said green bar would open VST. Not open in the PC but the standard VST gui in its standard random position.

Maybe in the future there could be some cool PChannel system where elements could also be positioned in parallel (such as Izotope have with their Ozone and Alloy plugins).

    Yeah, I see what you mean. Basically a PC module that is a VST slot. That'd be nice.

    Noel addressed something like this this in another thread:

    Our architecture wouldn't easily allow for interspersing PC and fxbin plugins.
    i.e. UFX is a user fx and PCFX is a prochan fx,  you can't have  UFX1->PCFX1->UFX2->PCFX2
    I also think that would be unnecessarly complicated to implement as well as to use and visualize.

    What I was thinking of was only a placement of the entire PC itself within the user bin OR vice versa the user bin within the PC. i.e.
    UFX1->UFX2-> PC Bin->UFX3 ...
    or
    PCFX1->PCFX2->User Bin-> PCFX2->PCFX3 ...

    We may also consider making some PC modules dual mode in the future. The PC platform is only one year old so its possible we may have future enhancements.

    That's not very smart, IMHO.....They should have designed the ProChannel with that scenario in mind. I find myself wanting to insert VSTs in that chain...a VST Container module should have been included from the get-go... R

    I'm with you, Rico. TBH, I was a bit baffled and disappointed to read Noel's response a couple of days ago... How the FX architecture wrt. PC was not designed to easily play together w/ non-PC VSTs is beyond me, since elsewhere he confirmed that PC modules are simply VSTs w/ extra stuff. I had assumed based on VST interface commonality that the underlying architecture would easily support PC modules as individual VSTs, and esp. mixing PC modules w/ VSTs and vice versa... but I got the sense from his response that while the former is a matter of implementing some missing code, the latter is not so "easy". Head scratcher. For me anyway.

    If they can create an fx chai module, shouldn't it be possible for them to integrate a vst that way?

    Interesting idea..that just might work.

    I think you misunderstood what I said. Whats difficult isn't putting VST modules in the PC. We already do that with the Softube modules which are essentially VSTs.
    Its *interspersing* USER fx bin modules with PC modules as some people were suggesting that I was referring to. It would be hard to have the signal flow bounce back and forth between the PC fx bin and the user fx bin. While its technically possible to do (what isnt?) it would be excessively complex and crazy to debug the signal flow for a user.
    Putting a generic VST in the PC would require some glue to get some UI to show up in the PC itself otherwise it would be pretty kludgy. The original goal of the PC was to have the most important go to channel strip modules easily accessible and ready to use. We wanted users to have a uniform experience with the PC hence the first cut was to use just our plugins there. That said, we acknowledge that people want to do more with it so your suggestions are noted.
